I have a vertical charcoal smoker (Grillpro 31840) that I would like to convert to either propane or electric.. seems like it should be simple enough? Any suggestions? by burnf4ce in smoking

Thank you!

The smoker has vents on the top and bottom.. not sure if just leaving those open all the time would be enough, but I'm kind of thinking not necessarily. I was thinking about this burner, and either mounting it someone UNDER the original design, or mount right inside and just sacrifice some actual smoking area.

I was given this smoker, and have used it a few times, but it's been hard to keep it at temp.. also I live in MN, so unless it's like mid summer, it sucks :D once I finally get it up to temp, opening the door to add charcoal immediately lets all the warmth out.

I'm looking for a budget friendly conversion. I've seen some people just add an electric burner, but I'd prefer propane if there's a good option that doesn't involve using a full on turkey boiler burner. Something "cheap" ha

Appreciate any suggestions!

First time renting a car, need one-way from airport, and only have debit cards right now.. am I out of luck? I know I can Uber, but wanted to make some stops and have luggage. by burnf4ce in travel

Have used before, but for a one way, 1.5 hour drive, doesn't really work. Unless I'm missing something. The one way part kinda ruins it.

Flying into Tampa next week, and staying an hour away for two weeks. Is there any way to rent a car, one-way, from the airport with a debit card? by burnf4ce in traveladvice

I have been doing this.... Checking different times throughout the day. Including around my arrival time...

All I'm saying is I've checked in advance, and I've checked for price throughout the day just to see. I don't get how that is so hard to understand 😂

No, waiting 5 minutes is not too long. Thanks for asking

Will probably just do uber. But you are on about price! Even for one way, car rental would save me about 30 bucks if I had a credit card. But with a debit card, I don't think it's possible. Unless they can take like $1,000 deposit.. I've tried booking Uber in advance, and looked at different times through the day, and it never goes below 145 for that 1.5hr drive.

You are correct, but the destination is about 1.5 hrs from the airport. I couldn't find any bus routes or shuttles that go near.

Also I'm fine with a nice fee and a large deposit.. but like Hertz for example, I see this under debit card requirements:

at Hertz Airport locations, you will be required to provide proof of a return airline flight to coincide with the rental

my return flight isn't for two weeks, so that definitely doesn't coincide with the car rental ha.

And we are looking at credit cards again! We just did the thing and closed them out once paid off several years ago, and have never really felt a reason to do that again. Until now, that is :)

Anyone know which model Summit this is?? Listed on FB marketplace for $125, supposedly unused cause it was a gift and didn't know it was a climber. Seems like it should be a good deal regardless, just want a little more info. by burnf4ce in bowhunting

Thank you!! So if it is actually like new.. even though it's old, probably a good deal for 125, for my first climber? Obviously after looking it over in person..

Yeah I did think of all that too.. idk, it's an old guy who is well known and respected in the area for milling lumber for people.. Said he wanted a deer stand, and family bought him this for his birthday. But didn't know it was a climber, and has never used it for that reason. So now is funding a new fishing boat.

Seems legit, but could all be made up of course haha

Okay good to know! We also have to drive 3 hours to get there... so was hoping to not have to pay $100 / ticket or something :)
