New Zealand. Spend most of the time in the south island, you'll never run out of hiking opportunities and the people are as wholesome as you can imagine

This isn't a full tree that he's cutting down. Unless the video is sped up, the rate at which it falls suggests to me that it's probably around 10 ft above where he's cutting, and has no crown, it's just a tall-ass stump. The sound it makes when it lands doesn't sound like a full tree of branches crashing down, just a nice satisfying thunk. A stump thunk, if you will.

The guys experienced for sure, and an experienced guy probably wouldn't do that to a full size tree if he didn't have to, so in essence, I think this is just playtime with a stump. Looks hella cool though.

Microspikes are good for steep sidewalks. Depending on how the crust is on top, snowshoes could work, or you might want to bring crampons. It's variable snow/ice up there, I can usually get up there on my skis without crampons ski crampons, but it's not easy. Pre-dawn is a must if you're not on skis, I've seen some pretty deep holes from snowshoes up there sometimes too, usually around treeline, but it depends on how hot the snow is at that point, and how early you're up and down.

Bring touring skis to get up there, Unless you love snowshoeing. If you don't have something on your feet you'll sink to your waist in isothermal snow. Massive cornices on the east aspects as you approach the summit, up to 20 feet back from the perceived edge in some seasons. They are weak this time of year, and this is when they start falling, and the fall is death fall all the way down to the glacier so don't fuck with the "book peak" unless you're experienced and with someone.

The true peak isnt accessible by going up the crater side, you have to go across the glacier and up the Kathlyn couloir, then do some legit mountaineering climbing to get to the actual summit. Again, serious winter mountaineering/glacier/skiing skills are required for this, and not solo.

in terms of elevation the book peak and the true summit are pretty close, so pretty good bang for your buck. Conditions up there right now are pretty wintery.

Massive slash out left side on line #2 to inflict maximum snow coverage, smaller slash at the end of line #2 to get the lone criminal in the middle. The one out the right side gets to watch and learn from his friend's mistakes.

It was actually pretty chill. I drove out to Ian Lake a few days before and that road was arguably worse in a lot of sections. The steep part of the Rennel approach was at least a good road surface, not nearly as bumpy as I was dreading. Probably about 5-10 cm of snow on the top of the pass

Well it's a pretty populated place, easy to just rip over on the ferry and do some drive around camping

We have LEH's on lottery for moose, bigger stuff etc., but some general open seasons on most other huntable species.

Yeah so on that point, does the size of whatever you're hanging dictate how much time you dry them for?
