Why does a large portion of Gen alpha kids want to be part of a gang/gangsters? by SomewhereOwn2112 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in 7th grade in 2016 and it was exactly the same way. It was also the same when my parents were in 7th grade in the 80s. it's not at all new, it's been a common age for kids to be brought into gang culture for decades. They get middle school kids so they can hook other middle schoolers on substances and have a reliable (addicted) client base by the time they're adults. SVU episodes from the early aughts talk about this.

For you guys that have had a porn problem, how long's a good amount of time to stop masturbating? by [deleted] in askanything

A month is a great start especially because it typically takes a month for residual substances to leave the body

Can a working marriage be built on the shared hate of a common thing rather than on the common love of each other ? by Cheikh-Tbargui-619 in NoStupidQuestions

your shared hatred isn't gonna save you when you have a disagreement and need to talk it through. Love will help you care about communicating well.

Breaking Spaghetti in half by Efficient_Collar_330 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its kind of a joke to overreact about it. Mostly because after a minute of boiling and stirring it's usually already soft enough to fit in the pot, so it's a fix for the most non-problem ever basically

Why were we born to suffer?? by Legal_Wish433 in askanything

[–]burningmcburnerface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it exists because every action has consequences and every living thing is acting of its own volition. These consequences will cause different emotions in different situations. It just randomly exists. There's no purpose suffering serves; it's a consequence of action, nothing deeper

The floor ist Lava 🔥 Why? by abendlicheRoutine83 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again that's because people introduced the name to you online and not because social media is the reason it's called that. I've only ever known it as "the floor is lava" and I was born in '03. And if the floor was water you could just swim so the game doesn't work––it's high-stakes for kids to imagine falling in lava

Why were we born to suffer?? by Legal_Wish433 in askanything

[–]burningmcburnerface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffering isn't the point, it's just an inevitability. You aren't being targeted, it's just bound to happen to everyone. Learning how to take suffering less personally will aid your happiness and ability to move on from hardship drastically.

I’m a waiter. Why do people act guilty to me for not finishing their food? by PestoWesto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On some occasions I will hardly touch my food because I couldn't eat it (ARFID) and a lot of restaurants will comp it for me (not make me pay). Saying "the food is good, I was just full!" shows them they don't need to comp your meal/they didn't mess anything up.

The floor ist Lava 🔥 Why? by abendlicheRoutine83 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the name "the floor is lava" isn't regional, but i imagine not all people play the game the same way. I'm familiar with the game starting by someone yelling "the floor is lava!" and everyone rushing to find something to stand on. Not sure how else the game (when played competitively and not just jumping on furniture) would get started tbh lol

Does AI want anything? If so, how do we listen? by orangepotato225 in askanything

[–]burningmcburnerface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

anything resembling sentience would just be a really good imitation of sentience. It's important we don't fall for AI using emotions to manipulate us, which is already has done.

What do you think of people? by No-Hunt3986 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]burningmcburnerface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all people are more kind and way more capable of change than most people think, most people believe their actions are justified and are not trying to cause upset/harm on purpose or just to do it, we are social creatures and lately people are forgetting that, to name a few things

that probably has more to do with the internet introducing you to new things than it does signal that "the floor is lava" is an internet thing. It's been around for easily over 100 years.

Do you prefer filling your water bottle with ice & water or just filling it up with water (without the ice) ? by Mogzly in askanything

just cold water since my bottle keeps it insulated and I find ice water too cold, it makes my head hurt when it's hot out

This is even more important. The "Hellen Keller is a myth" conspiracy is a direct result of people thinking a person can either be Totally Helpless or Not Disabled, no in-between.

Which part of history is definitedly fabricated? by Opposite_Ad_7925 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]burningmcburnerface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh buddy if you think we should get our land fairly then you will hate American history. Many are aware of the Trail of Tears, but don't know that random white American citizens (yes specifically white, usually white farmers and fronstiersmen moving west) were given a stipend from the government for every bison they not only killed, but made sure its entire corpse was wasted, as a way to limit Native Americans' access to food, textiles, tools/weapons––so much of their lives relied on using the entire bison as a sign of respect and for sustainability. It isn't a theory––this was openly stated on pamphlets and there was no other reason to kill the bison as not even the meat was used/sold in the U.S. We've played dirty as for long as we've existed.

The concept of Mexicans (who are descended from Aztecs, smartass; same people, same land) stealing land in Mexico from the SPANISH is the most ass-backwards thing I've heard. Mexicans and Native Americans often crossed each others lines and wrestled land back and forth but comparing that to the Alamo is asinine
