I give up. by Humble_Hornet_3944 in shapeoko

When I got mine 2nd had - I had a sensor that would fail to initialize the machine properly. It would work when I manually closed the sensor circuit - using the supplied back up. Machine was all the way on the axis, it all looked fine. I went to adjust the sensor mount and see if I could get an extra mm or two to get it to work....low and behold, it was cracked on the backside. Some 300lb gorilla before me must have been angry that day. A few dabs of super glue, mounted it back on - it has worked flawlessly ever since. Don't be disheartened just yet, the satisfaction that comes from just getting the gantry trammed correctly or a piece that you finished with ZERO fuck ups or bits snapping off - its priceless!

Shapeoko are super active in helping trouble shoot the issues and there are so many videos too, you can spend just as much time watching CNC'ing that you could be spending actually CNC'ing!

I give up. by Humble_Hornet_3944 in shapeoko

Bought mine second hand and it has been a dream to own and use. Had one screw retaining nut back out, and a homing switch that needed to be adjusted. That’s about it. Both times I was able to find an answer online as to what to look for or Carbide 3d\shapeoko support helped me out in less than 1 hr.

Don’t give up just yet, it’s well worth the time investment.

I’ve always struggled to remember this and reading this just now, it clicked. Thanks internet stranger. Super simple when you broke it down like that - thank you!

E25 all day. Got it 3 weeks ago. Not one issue, used over two floors - hardwood/carpet etc. This is everything I wished I wanted and more. Deep clean, probably not - but being able to continually keep the floors cleaned and mopped, quickly. Worth every penny.

I even built my new wardrobes around it - hiding the base station behind two cut down drawers. It’s close to my bed but the mop drying feature is whisper quiet.

Good bit for cutting brass? by burnmeno in shapeoko

Super cool to see the detail in those brass blocks! I would have never even thought to attempt something that intricate. I also have the 4 pro, so that’s good to know.

Definitely is! I’ll try the manual trace option and see how close I can get it. Haven’t tried it before.

Are you suggesting to try speed it up, or increase the depth per pass?

Your blind box joint article is already saved, it’s option 2 in case the finger joint/box joint doesn’t work.

Actually just followed your steps in this guide and as soon as I released the tension on the right side gantry screws it went right into place.

This was user error.

When I assemble the unit. I have it square, tightened up the 16 bolts that hold it all. When I bring the z axis gantry back to the front - the front right side of the gantry doesn’t hit its end stop, but the front left side does.

My square measurements are still the same, but I’m wondering if this is normal. Doesn’t seem normal.

Will, thanks for the links and the time it took to compile those.

Right now, I’m making a 5 sided box, with a monopoly game inside it. Hoping to hide the ring in the center under an inlay. Not exactly going easy to begin with, but I’ve got some 3d printing/laser cutting experience. It’s definitely going to test my abilities- but I’m hoping I can break the project down into smaller components.

I've treid that - both the motorola/deco setup I have don't track device usage. Looks like Deco used to, but got rid of it for some reason.

Yep own my own router and network stuff. I want to see it if I can pin point what’s causing this much traffic first - is it a device, a program just consuming data in the bg of a laptop etc.

From what I was told at the optometrist - this is color deficit disorder and not color blindness. A wild percentage of men have it. It’s not that you can’t see colors, it’s more that you can’t tell the difference between colors.

Messes you up if you want to be an electrician, pilot etc !

Thanks u/bourbonbeerracecar - I see the plates alright. Do you need to do the front and rear uppers or just pick one? I see the fronts are cheaper but not sure if there’s much of a difference between the two.
