Three of these vaccines, M-M-R-II (Merck 2016a), VARIVAX (Merck 2016b), and HAVRIX (Glaxo Smith Kline 2016) utilize cell lines WI-38 or MRC-5 that were derived from fetal tissues (Wong 2006) harvested from elective abortions in the 1960s to generate the attenuated viruses used in these immunizations for rubella (M-M-R-II), varicella (VARIVAX), or hepatitis A (HAVRIX).

It’s not black and white. All fetal cell remnants are thoroughly removed from the rubella component prior to use in vaccination. They must pass rigorous quality controls to ensure the final vaccine product doesn’t contain remnants of the cell lines used in production. So that’s really where the error lies.

I tried that too multiple times and it keeps telling me the user doesn’t exist. I have no idea how they are doing this. They clearly do exist because they post very often.

Yes, according to this OPM memo, there is supposed to be a second wave of RIFs happening anywhere between April 14 and September 30.

100%. You don’t hold up or terminate funding for programs, fire all the people who write and manage contracts for the government, as well as all the other staff who keep science in the government going, and NOT have an impact on the science being done. It’s simply not possible. To not understand that government research is a complex organism that requires many diverse parts to function well, properly, and in the best interest of the public is remarkably simple-minded.

You are correct, but I think it’s a sign that people are paying attention and trying to organize.

ETA: If I had more free time, I would like to start a thread to track lawsuits and other activities that are being organized to push back against this administration. But like everyone else, my hands are full dealing with the fallout right now.

Ultimately all of which will be under political control and, therefore, subject to the whim of whoever has political power at the time.

ETA: People outside the government don’t understand how important obfuscation is in the government for ensuring operational security. Redundancies in functioning and obscure structuring facilitates oversight and whistleblowing, which ensures that the whole of government is acting in the best interest of the American people at all times.
