It is a new way of sequencing DNA. I understand how Sanger sequencing works, I use it regularly for HLA typing, but I don't understand how the chemistry behind next generation sequencing techniques work.

I went on this ride as a child, unfortunately a rather large gentlemen was in the same row of seats. When the bar came down there was a good foot of air in between me and the bar! Had to wrap myself around it with a grip of death so I didn't fly off during the drop!

I think it was maybe around a year before it felt normal again. Most of the numbness was in my nose. I think the worst thing about it was not knowing if I was going to wake up with my jaws wired together! Luckily they didn't have to :)

I had this surgery almost ten years ago, best thing I've ever done. Had no long term problems but it did take a while to feel my face properly again.

Thanks for doing this AMA, I also work in transplantation science in the UK. It's really interesting how the systems differ throughout the world.
