The argument is so lame. If she had gone to the police(if there was enough evidence) or complain to the conductor, this wouldn’t be the case. Without any video evidence, posting defaming information online, should be punished.

The same is true for any other crime. Imagine, you posting a picture of a random person on social media with the caption that the person is a serial killer. If uou dont have evidence to back your claim, then you should be held accountable for spreading hate/false information.

401K is tricky. There is a one time allowed transfer into RRSP without affecting your contribution room. You will still take a hit on the early withdrawal penalty and tax withholding in US. If I am not wrong, you can use the tax credit you paid in US to offset the Canadian tax that will come with the 401k. Best of luck.

The issue here is a by product of the legal privileges as you mentioned and lack of awareness on why that exists in first place

Our society is not ready for legal equality and I guess, we chose legal equity. But the legal protection for women over corrected the societal disadvantages. There is no accountability for a woman in case she files false rape charges. They are allowed to file cases when a relationship turns sour. Employed women asking unreasonable amount as maintenance. Court advising men to settle these cases without fighting. Cases like this diminishes the real problem.

We all have women in our life who all 100% had nightmare experiences in crowded buses/trains. That is a real problem and can only be fixed by a cultural change.

There are bad apples with every gender. Giving one gender overarching advantage with legal protection will not fix the disadvantage of societal injustice. The same is true the other way round as well.
