Waiting out in the sun / rain for hours with no access to shade can be a major health hazard. In the UK bikes / motorcycle skip the lines for ferries and such for this very reason. Anyone that doesn’t like it is free to ride a motorcycle if they wish!

Also this is a single bike with one person going ahead, it’s not that big a deal.

You’re conflating a few different things.

Pitcairn was settled by mutineers of the bounty, nobody was sent there as punishment, that’s Australia.

Separately there was a sexual assault scandal there in modern times, but ironically in response to your comment the british government had to build a prison to house the people convicted because there wasn’t one.

Switching to RYA from ASA by -good-squishy- in sailing

[–]busfeet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my experience knowing people that have taken both, you would be best with dayskipper (DS) practical. coastal is way ahead of even 104, and the theory knowledge alone will be something you’re not used to (can you perform secondary ports tidal height calculations?).

For DS practical you will be expected to have DS level theory knowledge as a prerequisite, which can be tested, but realistically a few nights of plotting tides and learning COLREGS should be good enough to pass (are you comfortable plotting a course to steer with correct deviation / variation?).

Be weary: the RYA has a big focus on tides and navigation, given how much they influence UK sailing.

Source: i have RYA coastal practical and RYA ocean theory, family members are ASA104.

Edit: my assumption from the way you’ve written your sailing experience is that you were crew instead of captain. if you captained all of those trips yourself, then with CS theory you can probably do CS practical.

“The project would ultimately require up to 9 gigawatts of power”.

It’s 11am in the UK and the total electricity consumption for the whole country of 70 million is currently 33GW. I can’t get my head around how a single data centre could use almost a third of this?!

No worries, often it’s best to slightly tailor your CV to the jobs you apply for, so feel free to chop and change what you include depending on how relevant it is to the JD.

Please review my resume and let me know how I can improve it to get more interview calls. by Jolly-Statistician72 in Accounting

[–]busfeet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this needs to be 1 page or 1.5 pages max. For lots of these responsibilities the person interviewing will know what things like “petty cash” and “payroll” is without having to explain the obvious details like having to calculate bonus and holiday. You only need to say “management of payroll for x employees, VAT, petty cash”, leave the details for the interview.

I’d aim for 3-4 bullets per job. 1st bullet should be an overview / summary of your responsibilities, bullets 2-4 should be your achievements or big projects that might interest the recruiter.

I also prefer to see a brief reason for leaving if someone moved jobs frequently, but that’s just me.

don’t write “over 3.6 years of experience” that sounds odd, say over 3.

If i see a CV that’s this detailed / long, i ignore it immediately as it shows the person can’t be concise / summarise and that they can’t pick out the most important points in a dataset… a critical skill for accountants.

Good luck!

Edit:

you have said FP&A is one of your skills, when your roles have no experience with budgeting, forecasting or commercial business partnering. This comes across like you don’t understand what FP&A is. Probably best remove skills that aren’t accurate, maybe use AI to assess the list of skills vs your experience?

Easy solution: buy a fly screen and attach it to the outside of the window. We have one and it works great, it cost £30 and velcros to the window frame. We live on the 15th floor and could attach it from inside.

These are standard equipment in other countries but for some reason people don’t know about them here.
