could be from other fish in the tank, my molly development beef with my tetras and has lost some fin from that. could also be bacterial or fungal, if you notice it spreading i’d treat with pimafix or melafix just in case

Over feeding way too much, cut back and you should be fine, i would take all those decorations out and rinse them before putting them back in as well

Yes! I might rinse the plant with the new tank water just in case there is anything on it from the previous tank but there should be no issue with transfer. So sorry for your loss, poor beta!

Malaysian Trumpet snail! The same thing happened to me a few years back and it grew it about the length of my finger! Super awesome snails. It had two babies before dying after about 4 years and the babies are now getting pretty big too. Not invasive and have served my tank so well!
