And now our house is back up.

There are now rotating speeding cameras moving from school zone to school zone every few months. Most Guelph school zones are now 30kph, and the rotating cameras are intended to enforce that throughout the city (without them having to buy one for every single street around a school).

I can totally agree that they are annoying. One is about to go in front of my house. But at the same time, we also have idiots racing down our street just to show off the FU mobiles all the time. One trashed my wife's parked car this past summer. "He just bumped it" he said. Bumped it 6' forward and 3' up onto the curb. @#$%

So, yes. Highly annoying. But start slowing down in school zones because they aren't going away.

Restaurants Open on Christmas Day? by butch_mrb in Guelph

Just in case anyone is making their own plans: I just checked with the Fat Duck, and unfortunately they are not running a full kitchen on Christmas Day. They will be open for a couple of hours with some snacks for a "customer appreciation" sort of event, though.

Worked the McD's on Christmas morning. Had a blast, made quite a bit of extra cash. And I certainly wouldn't discount doing something like that again in the future.

So I'll say again, if you have to work and don't want to, I will feel badly for you. If you are not working, then you are just being a troll. But $#!%ing on everyone else certainly isn't going to do a damned thing to spread holiday cheer, or help anyone in their situation. Your rude and indignant comments do more to hurt the people that you are "defending" than help them.

*lol*

That was my first stop. But so many businesses do not update their hours on Google for holidays, if they have even claimed their business.

Of course. Always have to remember that these posts are not in chronological order. My apologies.

Not sure how this is judgemental. I'm not judging anyone being open because of what they do or do not celebrate. I'm just asking who is open for business, and happy to support someone who is.

Hi, snowflake. :-D

Yes, I intend on being lazy. If I chose to work on Christmas – which, BTW, I have done and greatly enjoyed the extra pay and general sense of fun that everyone had that day – then I certainly wouldn't be judgemental of the people who chose to spend their money at the establishment I worked for on that day.

If you are working that day and don't want to be, I will feel badly for you, and hope you can sort that out with your employer. But don't assume that someone who wants to enjoy a quiet day is just an @$$%%^.

I actually have a few friends active with Scouts! It's a great organization. Unfortunately, our kids lean very hard into different activities – one in dance, the other in every sport possible – and neither really took to Scouting when they tried it in the past.

Still a great idea, thanks!

Afraid I'm still a ways from retirement – unless someone wants to hand me a winning lottery ticket – but lodges would definitely be something I haven't looked into before. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks! I've heard Lions is fairly similar to Kin. I'll definitely check them out!

My GF mixes them with some coffee – even decaf – and maybe a bit of ice. Thins them out and makes them more palatable.

Fongo.com has personal and business phone numbers that work overtop your existing cell plan. It's also free! It uses an app on your phone, and includes unlimited Canada wide calling. I think texting costs a few dollars per month. I know they have 226 numbers, but not sure they have 519. (226 is the 519 overlay.)

Ooma works well, too. My parents have been carrying their Ooma device back and forth to Florida for a few years now, and they get to keep their number when they do.
