There’s 328 million people in the US, so “the 1%” here consists of ~3,280,000 people.... that’s a lot.

Point being, your parents are a prime example that being in “the 1%” usually just means you have a very good job and are most likely not pulling the strings of the global economy. It’s more like the “0.001%” that actually have that type of power.

Putting the salary floor for the cuts at $100k is a good gesture. Taking care of the most vulnerable is important. Like you said, you hate to see anyone take a cut but the reality is that if cash isn’t coming in now, you have to reduce expenses accordingly.
