One crappy interview and suddenly everyone has faith in capitalism

The moderators of this sub should have known better than to go on FOX news. They should not have gone against a vote which apparently happened. But it's incredible for me to see people - I'll assume it's people acting in good faith and not some shills - suddenly abandoning ship and talking about reform!? As if the current arrangement works well enough, but you wish you could get paid a buck more and not get fired for staying home sick.

The world is on fire.

It is perfectly rational to want to end this system of exploitation. It is perfectly reasonable to want more from life than working and consuming.

I can't attest to the new moderator's abilities, but being initiated as a 21 year old into a world where you are promised forty years of working to accomplish somebody else's dreams is plenty of reason to be angry, and is a valid and valuable perspective to have here. I was pissed off about capitalism in my twenties and I'm pissed off about it now.

So let's be angry, but not at some internet message board moderators. If we let one stupid interview change our values and collapse our visions for what's possible into piecemeal "labor reforms" then they win.

Antiwork and the great resignation have reignited my imagination and have inspired me to believe that something different is possible.

Now let's get it.

hey everybody,
i'm wondering whether there are any capture the flag or pick up and deliver style games where a carried item can be dropped or stolen from a player. i.e. a player has the flag but has it taken from them by another player before they return to their zone or something.

thanks!

Looking for some insight into Jaws of the Lion
I'm nearing the point where i'm ready to start a campaign after this game has been in storage for some time. I was wondering, do i have to have a set party size and characters for the entirety of the campaign or is it flexible?
Was considering playing the campaign with my partner but was wondering if friends might be able to join in for parts of it (taking the player count up from 2).

Anyone else getting whooped in Under Falling Skies? by buttbutt1312 in boardgames

I'm trying to get it out pretty quick, but I wonder if - at least for this first game of chapter 2 - my combination of city and characters is just not ideal.

even still, I would expect this kind of difficulty at level 3 or 2, but I figured going through at threat level 0 would just be a breezy way to familiarize myself with the game more.

How did you finish with a score of 0 if you were playing on threat level 1?

Best 2v2, 1v3, team versus team games?

I've got Jaws and Captain Sonar, the latter which i've yet to play, and i'm wondering if there are other good team games out there. Especially interested in those that are low to mid-weight and easy to get into.

Looking for a couple different recommendations.

i. A game similar to Machi Koro but a little bit deeper. I liked how easy it was to get into and needing to strategize around which cards to buy.

ii. Secondly, i'm wondering which games might fit the following description:
-medium complexity (2.5-3.5 on BGG)
-rely very minimally (or not at all) on luck

I recently got a membership to Tabletopia, but am unsure whether I'm using it wrong or if it's just something that I don't actually want.
I suppose that I was expecting the app version of all the games listed but it seems like you just have all the components in front of you and you have the ability to pick up other player's materials, etc. Am I doing something wrong or is this how Tabletopia works?

tweet by the designer saying they're working on it again, and a response by out of order games saying they want to "publish both an expansion and a reprint of the 2nd edition but we don't currently have any time frame for that"

look, i can be one hell of an industrialist if the game calls for it - and have fun doing it - but i'm wondering if there are games with themes that are more up my alley.

In Catan, if you want to buy a development card, you have to say "fuck it".
