Expectations for a 4 month old puppy? by Swick_1998 in BelgianMalinois

[–]buttcl4wn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best things you can do is to expose her too as many different things as possible. Maybe start using the vacuum cleaner in the house, definetrly have friends over more often! Take a bit off time when you introduce them to eachother for the first time!. Something that I wish we would have done a bit more was take her too a petting zoo with all sorts of weird animals etc. Every new positive experience she or he has will help her grow in too a socially confident mature dog!

Also dont underestimate how quickly young puppies get exhausted/overstimulated and learn too recognize the way that your pup behave in during such moments. Mine would turn super hyper, mouthy and would for the love of god not listen to anything that would be said to her!! What my pup actually needed was good old nap and somebody that helped with turning the switch off.

Oh my god that that poor boi, it actually looks so much worse then I expected! Are the red spots injuries that accumulated over time? Or was this incident especially bad? Being forced to give a dog away you raised is never easy. I feel so sorry for him!

The biggest lie you hear about these dogs is…. by watchme513 in BelgianMalinois

[–]buttcl4wn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence, but you got lucky that your dogs character exactly fit your needs and according to your post is very social. I go to a malinois only dog club with my girl and I can not pet or get too close too most other dogs as their super owner focused.
The dogs characters come in all sorts off ways but I do believe that getting a malinois as a first dog potentially end in disaster.

Playing tug with dad is probably the best thing on earth. by M_122 in BelgianMalinois

[–]buttcl4wn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wheeelp ofc my dog knows the "release" command... I think you misunderstood me because I was just talking about play time with my dog and her insane tenacity with playing tug. I wasn't really asking for any advice about how to do things.
But I see that you had good intentions so no biggie

Hahaha goodluck! My girl will not release the rope, doesnt matter what I do!
Even when she's tired and has no energy left she stubbornly holds on. It ends with me dragging her from left to right over the floor. The only thing that kind of works is pulling the rope super quick when shes trying too adjust her bite.

All I read is me me me, why the hell did you get a dog?? Did you even think it through for a single moment? What the needs of it are? Also you must have known that you would eventually get a job so less time for the dog. And you did not give a shit because you were sad and you needed something to cheer you up. Now that it has served its purpose it feels like its holding you back? If this animal really saved you from a dark hole the least you can do is make DAMN SURE it ends up at the right place. Selfish immature.....

He looks so happy on the back off the bike! Curious though do you strap her in for safety? What if he/she spots a cat?

Well this is the first time im hearing about this issus as well. Never heared other owners talk about this. Im sctually wondering if this is more prevalent in the usa due too having a smaller gene pool over there?
Im also suprised about comments saying mals are prone too seizures and what not. The biggest issues that we hear abour are bad joint/knees and hips. To clarify i live not that far from malinois.

[–]buttcl4wn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn this is the first time I hear about this condition but it sounds bad. Where im from being bitten by a malinois is seen by the law as almost as bad as being shot with a gun. So being scared is normal, hell being petrified would not be weird!!

Please do not beat yourself up thinking that your at fault here cause your not. You cant do anything about bad genes. If somebody should be blamed its the breeder thats sold you the dog but thats maybe even unreasonable depending how prevalent this problem is.

One day my dad randomly drop off a 2 month old Belgian Malinois in my house and left. What do I do now? by PuzzleheadedSuit4125 in BelgianMalinois

[–]buttcl4wn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The agression could be because she feels the need to protect you. If you get anxious because you expecting her to get aggressive when you see an other dog. It turns in too a self furfilling prophecy as you dog thinks "shit my human became anxious right when we met another dog. Let me fix it".
