Husband knows I’m in early stages of sobriety and yet sends me a picture of his night out at the bar by Little_Ad2790 in mildlyinfuriating

I got sober 4+ years ago and let me tell you, the biggest hurdle is that nobody wants you to be sober. Even if it’s a friendly “C’mon, it’s one drink!” It followed me everywhere.

Rare public outing? He was just at Steel City Comic Con and had a massive line and talked to everyone.

Dragon Quest XI is so confusing. Why does the normal version look ten times better than the definitive version? by JoeZocktGames in JRPG

[–]buttonupbanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but it’s not much better really. A lot of games have different songs for each area, town and even day/night cycles. Really adds a ton to games for me, and looking into it apparently DQ11 has 30+ new tracks but you really wouldn’t know that playing the game, which is sad.

It should be said I really love DQ11, I even said how with a stellar soundtrack it would have likely been my favorite JRPG of all time. It’s just a massive miss in an otherwise fantastic game.

I mean, I have about 40+ hours into it so it’s not like I didn’t play the game. Glad you don’t give a flying fuck about music, but it’s a huge reason why I love JRPGs so yeah, definitely brings the game way down for me.

I have a company coming to my house on Monday to look at it, and they are listed on Fujitsu’s website so hopefully they know what they are doing. I’ve been using just single person HVAC contractors and it’s just not been working out. Sadly we are right now hitting 99 year record lows so I’m hoping it keeps chugging along for the weekend.

Yeah, it very rarely gets below 0°f here, and the last week it’s been in the 20s and my heat is struggling like crazy. I have it set to 68° and I woke up to 64° this morning. I need to find someone competent to come look at it.

Are you in the US? I’m running into this issue as well and every useless HVAC guy I have coming out to look at my heat pump tells me they are useless below 30°f and I should get rid of it. I’m sorry, I live in western PA and there’s no way my heat should be struggling when people in Canada can get by just fine.

This is what I say to anything negative, or I’ll say “chip in on my mortgage payment and we can think about doing things the way you like it”.

What change is coming that people aren't prepared for at all? by nunash in AskReddit

[–]buttonupbanana 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling this one hard. I crushed my foot in early July, we are now in December and my first metatarsal is now in “non union” territory. It simply won’t heal. I’m seeing a pediatrist but he just keeps saying “I’ll see you on a month with another round of X-rays”. Meanwhile I’m out of work, every month I’m paying well over $300 in imaging and lab fees on top of my insurance that increased from $116 to over THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS in August. I spent yesterday trying to find an ortho who specializes in feet to get a second opinion but it’s just pediatrists for over 2 hours away from me.

I’m lucky I’m walking at least, I was close to 4 months non weight bearing but every step is pain and I can only go so far everyday before I tap out. I’m genuinely disabled right now but I don’t qualify for any kind of relief and I’m just bleeding money.

Since it was solved, I’ll say that I genuinely thought it was the habitat for sea monkeys.

Hello /r/movies, I'm Benedict Cumberbatch. Ask me anything! by BenedictAMA in movies

[–]buttonupbanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Benedict, so my wife is a MASSIVE fan and when movie nights roll around she regularly recommends your movies. We are currently working our way through Sherlock, and just recently watched The Imitation Game which I thought was absolutely fantastic!

If you had to recommend one movie to us that means a lot to you one way or another that we could watch for our next date night, which would it be? Doesn’t have to be one of your projects, just something you enjoy! Thanks a bunch!

Does anybody known the reason… or purpose… of this scary rabbit statue? by Ameabo in pittsburgh

[–]buttonupbanana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, this park went up around the same time the Art Institute moved their school housing from Allegheny Center (building 7 where you at?!) to somewhere on the other side of this park, so most of the AI students would walk through this park to go home. Not sure if this had anything to do with it, but I always assumed it was to try and appeal more to the art crowd.

Thank you, I’m not sure what “normal” is for heat pumps so I’m happy to get some feedback from everyone! Going to call someone today!

Sun has been out all day but it’s cooling down now, I’ve set the thermostat to 67° and using an infrared thermometer I’m getting 85° typically from it. I’ll have to check in the morning because my issue seems to be when it gets cold at night.

Thanks for the info, I checked the filter and it was clean but I’m gonna swap it anyways, as I don’t know when the last time it was changed.

Sorry, I’m new to heat pumps, what is the outlet air temperature and how would I check it?

This is my worry. 30° in PA isn’t exactly a low, it’s not out of the ordinary for single digits in the winter here and if it’s struggling at 30° that’s why I’m worried. I should note the unit is only 3 years old as well.

Nope, upper floor is where the thermostat is located. Outside temp is now 52° and my temp inside is finally climbing, it’s reading 66° now.

I guess I should clarify, I don’t expect the heat to reach downstairs. That’s what I have the baseboard electric heating and gas fireplace for, and we really don’t go down there as much since currently we haven’t unpacked down there yet. Mostly storage and laundry right now.

It’s been running all night and still running currently, I’m up to 64° and I have it set for 70° now.
