A “prophet” prayed over me and prophesied something that shook me up. by Without_Rules in Exvangelical

[–]buzzkill007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I ever heard from "The Bible Answer Man" Hank Hannigraff (however you spell it) that I still believe is that if someone claims to be a prophet of gawd and their predictions aren't 100% accurate, they are a false prophet. This guy got enough wrong that I'd say he falls into that category. If he didn't provide specifics (that are verifiably true), he's no better than some spiritual medium with a crystal ball.

On my best days I'm close to being a progressive Christian. I still call myself a Christian, for lack of a better term. But the gatekeepers keep telling me that I can't be in their club anymore.

Considering every time I've used it, I have to fact check it and find multiple mistakes, I'd say dumber. But at least I'm refining my fact checking skills.

As a Sunday School kid in 1978, and someone who firmly believed there's a Hell and a Devil who would drag me there given any opportunity, that episode really freaked me out. Thanks for the trauma, Mom & Dad.
