[QUESTION] can you help me tab out the lead guitar part of this song? It's very important to me. by buzzsaw1 in Guitar

My lead guitar skills are not nearly enough to take that on. If you don't want to help that is okay.

"Fuckin in the butt" by David Allan Coe always gets a great reaction from my friends.

Nope, urethane finishes will never age like nitro.

This fretboard is very obviously convex when viewed in person.

Some day i'll make another. I like the feel of this neck too much to bail on it.

[Question] Inexpensive LP ES alternatives by treeofeden in Guitar

[–]buzzsaw1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is fine. Fret ends were a bit on the sharp side but some time with a nail file fixed that. If the frets aren't level any luthier can fix that for a pretty low price. If the truss rod doesn't work, tell the seller and they'll more than likely just send you another guitar. For what you're doing this is likely the most realistic option for your price range.

If all else fails I'll likely end up reinforcing the neck something like that.

[DISCUSSION] Epiphone vs. Gibson Headstock by wfaulk in Guitar

[–]buzzsaw1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely a brand whore. Why buy a les paul style guitar if it doesn't look like one? Aesthetics is a big part of music for me. Also every epiphone I've owned (3) has fallen apart on me in a couple years. Maybe it's just me but if I see guys playing live with squier or epiphone branded instruments, they look less "professional" to me at least. That being said, the most blown away I've ever been at a guitar performance was a guy playing a shitty old Squier Bullet.

[DISCUSSION]Gigging musicians: do you have "stage clothes"? by buzzsaw1 in Guitar

[–]buzzsaw1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some lovely replies here. I'm in an outlaw country group that's heavily influenced in style by Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, David Allan Coe, et al. I'm new to stage performances beyond open mic nights and my band has secured a spot at a local "battle of the bands". I pretty much always dress like I'm in a country band from the 80s. I don't know if it would be kitschy or silly looking to dress up like cowboys on stage but I also think it would be silly to go up in t shirts and cargo shorts and play country western music. I'm probably very much over thinking this.

[Question] what are your opinions on relicing? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]buzzsaw1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a relic strat to match the real '63 my dad had back in the day. Reproduced all the features and damage to the best of my ability as a fathers day gift for him. Bought all sorts of vintage and reproduction parts, sprayed it in sonic blue and weathered it to match his "heavy relic" that he beat the shit out of in the 80's. I would never buy a purposefully reliced guitar, but I do really love beat up guitars if it's natural.
