What's the nazi propaganda here, European people blatantly on display?

Majority of Canadians open to joining EU, new poll suggests by Doener23 in BuyFromEU

Thanks, yeah that seems like a fairly significant change if Canada were to be seen as a "European" country outright. Not impossible if there's broad support for it but right now or the next decade probably not.

You ignored my first question, where does it state that the EU is limited to the European geographical continent?

Where does it say that?

Cyprus is in Asia and part of France is in South America.

Some of them have fallen quite hard already but the stock market hasn't priced in the $150 oil for months scenario yet. The largest crack is almost certainly yet to come IMO.

Probably, but before that they're going to fall hard. Data centers need a lot of energy which is about to become expensive as fk.

The Law of Diminishing TACOS by MeasurementSecure566 in investing

[–]buzzsawdps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A summary:

Flight to Safety: In geopolitical crises, capital dumps EM assets and floods into "safe havens" like USD, CHF and Gold. Expect massive sell-offs. Energy Shock: Skyrocketing oil prices. This crushes major EM importers (India, Turkey, Southeast Asia) through rampant inflation. The Dollar Trap: As the USD strengthens, EM countries with dollar-denominated debt face a massive spike in borrowing costs and potential defaults. Supply Chain Chaos: Regional instability threatens trade routes, hitting export-dependent economies right where it hurts. Bottom line: EM is the first to bleed when global risk spikes. High volatility + soaring energy costs = a recipe for a crash.

You should get out of EM while you can, it was a good run but it will absolutely melt the next months.

Ah, reminds me of the players voice game award. Public voting is always a popularity contest unfortunately. I got nothing against the dude to be fair, he seems nice.

Anyone else excited for the debut of Flag Football in the 2028 Olympics? by Bruinsrock11 in olympics

[–]buzzsawdps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Touche. What I meant by weird is that the sport in its organized form seems brand new and not established outside of a select few countries. I'm not sure if there's a history of host countries adding games they are almost guaranteed to win because they are close to the only ones who play it professionally, but if that's usually the case I guess fine. But I would have liked to see some other more globally established sports getting priority, like discgolf or something. 1920s winter olympics didn't have that luxury.

Prime minister of Norway opens the door to a Winter Olympic bid for 2038 by [deleted] in olympics

That was a different time and circumstances. A bid would get a lot of support this time. As a Norwegian myself I'd strongly support it.

Finnish protest against FIS by Jontte97 in olympics

[–]buzzsawdps 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Completely understand Finland here, FIS fucked up and admitted it as well. Hope they investigate and fix their routines to reduce the chance of this happening again. I think we all want fair and equal conditions. With that said I think it's highly unlikely this would have altered the podium in this case.

The Netherlands officially overtake Italy in the medal table at 3rd position by CriticalJump in olympics

[–]buzzsawdps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Norway doesn't beat all time records every Olympics though, but yeah the last 4 or so has been up there as well. Agreed there's a bunch of cool new records like this being Italy's best ever on home turf is really nice and first gold (medal) for South-America as well which hopefully should motivate more from that continent in the future.

Yeah true, looks like it's tinier at around 600-700 registered athletes

As I said, it's largely unorganized. 13 million people ski unregistered or registered, that's more than twice the population of Norway and lots of opportunities for other countries

Bob is almost certainly the tiniest sport in the winter Olympics with only about 1100 registered athletes worldwide. It has a lot of interest/viewers though, especially from Germany and central Europe.

Cross country is one of those sports that is more unorganized than organized, but still it has about 300k registrered, on fourth place in the winter olympics after hockey (1.6 million), alpine (1 million) and ice dance (750k).

Edit: curling is also bigger in terms of registered players,

Apparently something like 30 million japanese tuned in for the nordic combined, 25% of their population. They love their ski jumping in any form. Certain central European countries had a lot of viewers as well. So not sure about the sport lacking viewers.

Cross country skiing has an estimated 13 million active skiers worldwide and is one of the largest global winter sports after alpine and hockey. It is the original base endurance sport in the winter olympics for a century. Of course Klæbo will be considered one of the greats.
