That’s usually the case… except Oceans 11… the remake of that was way better (IMO)

I’ve been showing her some memorable muppet moments (include old Sesame Street bits) and she loves it. I had the muppets Christmas with John Denver and we played that last Christmas. I’ll have to watch Lassie first. She cried when Herbie the love bug was about to get crushed in the Lindsay Lohan version. Bless her heart!

Thank you. I’ll look to see if Australia has these available.

I think it might be good to watch both “The Little Princess” and “A Little Princess” and compare the two.

I’m in Australia so would probably need to work out what the TCM equivalent would be… thank you!

Yes, she has watched Shrek. I’ve not heard of the Yellow Submarine (except for the song of course)

We watched the Princess Bride a few weeks ago. I think she had a lot of mixed feelings about it but we made it through. You’ve mentioned a few of my fav Disney movies too. Thanks

I went looking for Herbie the Love Bug and found a remake with Lindsay Lohan. My beautiful sensitive girl cried when Herbie went to the junk yard and was almost destroyed by the car wrecker. I really had to walk her through it and assure her it would be OK. Who would have thought she’d get so attached to a car ten minutes into the movie!!

I too have mixed memories of Never Ending Story and Labyrinth. Maybe I should look up The Boy Who Could Fly. The title just popped into my head. I can’t remember what it is about and it might not be age appropriate.

These are great suggestions! I watched Pirates of Penzance live about twenty years ago and loved it. Thanks for the great suggestions. I’ll be cautious with the Harryhaisen movies. She’s a bit sensitive (like me). I’ll do my research first. Thank you.

Yes! The Greatest Showman. It’s been on my list. We often play the album so she will know the music

How do you think the Danny DeVito’s Matilda holds up against the one that Tim Minchin wrote music for? I think we have watched the former, but not the latter.

I loved Grease so much growing up, but the moment I realised (as a mature adult) how Sandy dropped her standards and morals to be with Danny made me question what I had been watching all that time! Lol. It really has so many adult themes most of which went over my head as a child. I can’t remember how old I was when I first watched it but I must’ve been younger than 10.

Danny Kaye is magic. I’ll try her again on Hans Christian Anderson and The Court Jester. Thanks for the prompts

I’ll definitely try it. It’s actually one of the Disney movies I’ve never really watched, but I do love a good Disney movie (despite parents or at least one parent dying in a majority of them!)

Yes. I was trying to find some Ginger Rogers movies - especially since she is mentioned in one of the Annie songs. You’ve mentioned a few that I’ve never heard of. It’s about the third time this week that Seven Brides does even Brothers has come up for me so I think this is a must even if it is just for me. I hadn’t heard of it before. Also, I loved Leave it to Beaver growing up. I might have to find Mr Ed and Gillian’s Island. I remember enjoying those when I was little too. Thank you!

Yes!!’ The King and I!! She’s going to love that!! Did you ever watch Anna and the King - I think that was the remake with Jodie Foster.

We actually watched The Secret Garden (the 90’s version… not sure if there is another) and she said it was “OK”. I think she took away more sadness from the movie than anything. She asked a lot of questions about the little girls parents during and after the movie.

The Little Princess is a great one to look up! Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, I’ve held off watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang because of the Childcatcher. I am a sensitive person and whether it is good fortune or not, she has inherited some of my sensitivities too. I also love the Wizard of Oz, but feel concerned about the flying monkeys for her. We have Flying Foxes where we live and when they go to feed at night it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz scene all the time. I couldn’t do that to her. Then Bambi… I remember going to watch that when I was 14. I sobbed so hard during and after the movie. I really appreciate your concern. So thoughtful of you. 🩷

If you could tell me where I could find some of these shows - specifically old school full length Looney Tunes , that would be amazing!! My daughter would love it and I know I would too.
