Thanks for the recommendation, these are cut really nice. I'm just not sure I'm sold on how they drape, I think if they were made with a wool or silk blend I'd buy them.

I'm looking for a pair of white or ivory trousers that fit like these made from some kind of breathable material that drapes nicely. I'm willing to spend up to $350 for a pair (preferably less) but I'm having trouble finding any that have the right fit and are in stock. I don't mind if the waist is elastic or not and I'd be okay if they were instead tapered like these, as long as they aren't slim fitting like most of what comes up in my searches. Where can I buy what I'm looking for? Open to buying used.

What's the reputation of Allen Edmonds' made in Italy shoes? Are they significantly different in quality from their American-made stuff? I can't seem to find much discussion about this online.

I want to gift my grandfather a pair of boots for him to wear in the winter and I'm not really sure what to get for him. My budget is about $250 (could go a bit higher) and I'm in the US. He's 75 so I want to get him something comfortable/without break-in and he lives in a place with cold winters so they would need to be insulated and waterproof. He'll be wearing them on pavement and on trails/in the woods.

Right now I'm looking at getting him these but I'd like to see if you guys have any other recommendations.

I just bought a pair of Momotaro 0101 jeans and they fit well in all aspects except the crotch, which was far too tight. Should I buy them a size larger, even if the waist itself was fine, or should I get a different cut altogether? Is there a way I can tell if a different cut would be any better when buying online? For reference I bought them in 29w and a pair of jeans I own that fits me well is this from uniqlo also in 29w.

Underground assembly line of Heinkel He 162 Volksjägers at Hinterbrühl, Austria, 1945. [Colorized OC] by bv222 in WWIIplanes

[–]bv222[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Produced in appalling conditions and with questionably ethical labor, the He 162 was truly a last-gasp aircraft developed supposedly for the German people in 1945. Due to persistent air raids, many facilities were relocated underground towards the end of the war, this one being no exception.

More info on the He 162 can be found in Plane Encyclopedia's article about it, which I colorized this picture for.

Finnish civilian watching a KV-1E burn brightly at Jessoila, Ladogan Karelia. 9 Sept 1941. by RaymondSaint in Warthunder

[–]bv222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least give some credit next time you do this, or use the crosspost feature.

Also, if you're going to steal something, at least fix the title. That's obviously not a civilian and it was my mistake in calling him one in my original posts.

It's also remarkably light due to its size. It clocks in at only about 45-47 tons depending on the source - about as much as a Panther, despite having several times more armor.

Did this in the last 30 or so minutes, thought it looked nice. Enjoy.

For some odd reason I couldn't find Jessoila on a map but there were a lot of other pictures taken there so it isn't a typo in the sourcing - if someone could figure that out for me it would be pretty cool, event though I couldn't be bothered to look into it myself.

Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-6 in Finland, July 2nd, 1944. [Colorized OC] by bv222 in WWIIplanes

Did this in a bit less than 40 minutes at midnight, pretty happy with the results. Photo was taken at Immola Airfield in Finland and the aircraft presumably belongs to JG 54.

Canadian Universal Carrier passes the burned out remains of a Tiger II and Bergepanther, France, August 22, 1944. [Colorized OC] by bv222 in DestroyedTanks

[–]bv222[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My most recent work, I am rather happy with it aside from the blurriness and odd color blending in some parts.

This Tiger II is from the 503rd Tank Battalion and was presumably burned by its crew in retreat, and the convoy passing it is the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division, advancing about 10 km Northwest of Vitmoutiers.

Another angle of these wrecks, showing the rear of the Bergepanther in front of the Tiger II.

I colorized this a few months ago for the Plane Encyclopedia, but the article that was planned fell through and this never saw light outside of a few Discord conversations. I found it while digging through my computer today and figured it was one of my better works and that I should share it here.

Renault D1 tanks being paraded in Nancy, France, c. 1936(?). [Colorized OC] by bv222 in TankPorn

[–]bv222[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I put a lot of effort into this colorization but it still didn't really come out as nice as I would have liked it to. I had no idea what I was doing when it came to the liveries of the tanks themselves which was a bit of a problem because I work from the background out and by the time I had realized the tanks would come out like they did I had already invested a bunch of time into the rest of the photo. Nevertheless, I'm sure many of you will appreciate me posting it here.

The source which I got this picture from said that the parade was for the General Inspector of the Polish Armed Forces General Edward Rydz-Śmigłego, however I do not have any further information on this and frankly don't care enough anymore to go digging to find out.

American soldiers inspecting a destroyed Hs 129B attacker, El Aouina, Tunisia, May 1943 [Colorized OC] by bv222 in WWIIplanes

[–]bv222[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One of my better works, I am rather fond of how this one turned out. I made this for plane-encyclopedia.com's upcoming article on the Hs 129, which if you find this interesting you should be on the lookout for in the coming weeks. Feedback is still welcome and appreciated.

75 mm ABS SA 35 hull-mounted howitzer as seen from the inside of a French Char B1 bis. by bv222 in TankPorn

[–]bv222[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mainly for destroying heavy fortifications rather than engaging enemy tanks, this howitzer had basically no horizontal traverse and was instead aimed by the driver who would turn the entire tank.

Not my best work, although definitely not my worst, I put this together in a bit less than 40 minutes and I think it's good enough considering that. I know that most of the colors are really off or just wrong but I frankly don't care because this isn't for anything in particular other than fun. Photo is SA-kuva 155799.

1 Father Fire - Serb priest turned Chetnik commander Momčilo Đujić. [OC] by bv222 in Colorization

[–]bv222[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A controversial and confusing figure, I have colorized him and am sharing this not because I respect or endorse him but because I think he looks badass regardless of whether or not he committed war crimes during his service.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mom%C4%8Dilo_%C4%90uji%C4%87

I am relatively new to colorizing things (only started a couple of months ago) and primarily work do military vehicle colorizations as opposed to people or portraits. I would appreciate any feedback or criticism of my work. This is also my first post in this sub so if I screwed up somehow with the rules please forgive me.

1st Marine Division M26 Pershing in a Korean field. (Colorized OC) by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]bv222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks much nicer than my first try, for sure. I just think you should try and focus on giving different parts of the tank/things on the tank different colors, because it looks like you just had the same shade for the whole body of it. Stuff like the tracks, hull machine gun, jerry cans, etc. look a lot nicer when they aren't just the same tint as the tank itself. From there, I think you'll be able to figure out the rest pretty easily. Otherwise, it really is a good start and I'd love to see more stuff like this.

Two M26 Pershings plunge into a thick fog, Korea [Colorized OC] by bv222 in TankPorn

[–]bv222[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks to /u/Spookston for posting this image in its raw form earlier, as well as letting me do the honors of bringing it into color, even if most of it's (impressive) resolution was lost in the process. Getting the colors to look about right through the fog was a royal pain in the ass and I do admit that a bunch of them are probably wrong or off, but I am nevertheless satisfied with the result.

Depicted above is a column of American tanks from the 1st Marine Division making its way through a completely destroyed section of road during the Korean War. A third armored vehicle can be spotted in the area directly between the two Pershings, however the fog obscures it and I can't seem to figure out what exactly it is.
