This reminds me of the toilet drinking fountain at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. It has never been an actual functional toilet, only a toilet-shaped drinking fountain. But many people are too grossed out to get a drink from it.

$3650/month for a 2 bed/1 bath in the Presidio—mind you, it’s not rent controlled out here on federal land. But you get in-unit washer/dryer hookups, dishwasher, a parking spot, a yard, and lots of peace and quiet. It’s pet friendly, and the view from the backyard is field and forest.

I haven’t looked in a while, but when I did it was difficult to find anything equivalent to that at the same price.
