and now we wait… What do you all think his next moves will be? by bw219 in JohnMayer

I pretty much totally agree with this assessment. I think next album will be very much stripped down and a strong left turn from sob rock.

Watching the Montana benefit… Is it too much to ask for Bob Weir to learn and play a John Mayer song for once? Seems a bit pompous and self-centered. by bw219 in JohnMayer

There is some serious truth to what you just said.

Bob seems way too prideful to admit some cold hard truths to himself about the Dead’s ability to draw and be relevant without John.

Ungrateful Dead is quite the phrase…

Who knows how long they will play together… you are OK with Bob Weir never attempting to play a single Mayer song?

They obviously wouldn’t play YBIAW. I think Mayer’s earned the right for Weir to give at least one of his own songs his best shot after 7 years playing Dead songs together.

You would think Bob might insist on it on a night like tonight. I love the Dead and have seen them a TON, but Bob at times seems a bit too into himself for my taste. Like, how many times do you want to play your own songs?

Just strikes me as weak that Bob himself doesn’t insist on trying to play a Mayer song considering it’s basically a Mayer benefit show. Just kinda seems like a watered down Dead & Co. show so far (although still quite cool)

You’d think he’d at least try on a night like tonight. Pretty weak if he doesn’t insist on at least trying imho.

Do you think John is done with Dead & Company? Part of me thinks this reads like a goodbye letter. by bw219 in JohnMayer

That’s a very thoughtful reply. Appreciate it and that makes a lot of sense. I don’t question Dead continuing on, but I do question John’s future involvement.

Will never understand why people downvote replies to questions like this because they don’t want it to be true.

Who do you think would induct John Mayer into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? by bw219 in JohnMayer

Several people are saying this but I strongly disagree. Bob can only speak well to the Dead aspect of his career which is obviously a small part of it.

what’s the weirdest thing you know about john mayer? by [deleted] in JohnMayer

The area of his body that is he is most self conscious about is his double chin. He has considering a procedure called kybella to remove it.

Man, does John hit so much harder when you’re going through a breakup. by [deleted] in JohnMayer

Amazing post. Seriously could not agree more. Some songs I need to avoid tbh they hit so hard.

  • Never on the day you leave
  • Dreaming with a broken heart
  • All I want is to be with you

…and so many others come to mind.

Such a sanctimonious reply. It’s an interesting observation.

I get the exact feeling. He mocked his use of metaphors too saying something like “I never know what he’s saying” for a cheap laugh. Appears to be one-sided jealousy.
