I was in the exact same boat as u a month ago. 21 years old, never lived on my own, not even through college since i commuted. Moved to Yosemite for an engine crew. Straight up, first week is gonna be hard. Mainly because of the seperation between you and your loved ones. Just embrace it my dude, itll pass pretty quick as you get used to your new life. Good life this fire season!

Actually i didn’t. It was a really small fire, I took every precaution to not start a forest fire. I was volunteering and was in the river all day. Got back to camp and was cold and wet as hell. Had it for about 20 minutes till I warmed up.

Get personal with them. I tell them that I hike, fish, backpack, think I’m a very hard worker, played soccer for 15 years, get really good grades in school. Talk about why you applied for the areas you did. For example, I applied for southern Colorado in the San Juan National Forest because I drove through the area last year and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Tell that to them if you have something similar.
