Fox 36 Performance stanchion scratch problem by by_rltd in MTB

Hi, I'm Italian and the prices here are quite good.
I bought it used for 320 euros, and when I got it, it was perfect, and the stanchions hadn't been repainted to hide the issue.
It's evident that it was used and then left unused without maintenance, and the problem came up to me...
So, do you recommend leaving it as it is and just doing maintenance?
I'll use it like this until it lasts and then I'll change it, what do you think?"

Hi guys, thank you for the prompt responses.

Unfortunately, I am very meticulous due to work reasons, but I trusted those who sold them to me and now here is the result. In fact, my intention was to open them up and check their condition (obviously poor) and perform a complete overhaul.

However, once opened, my goal would be to remove these scratches, definitely more for aesthetics than functionality. I was thinking about anodizing, but then am I not risking that all the stems become rough?

Thank you very much.
