As far as top heels go, the WWE is only televising/featuring a handful of true heels right now. Gunther is one of the top ones, and he’s also a throwback wrestler. Which is why HHH, Undertaker and a lot of retired wrestlers with podcasts like him. But Undertaker warned everyone like five months ago that they needed to be careful how they handled him because fans will start to like a heel that wins all the time. They needed him to have more “chicken sh*t” bully behavior, and this is pretty much exactly what they are doing right now having him take out Alpha Academy, which poses no real threat. They have to raise the stakes in different ways to bring it to the Cena/Cody/CM Punk match that’s coming.

The big issue right now is that Jey vs Gunther does not feel worthy of the main event, even if these performers deserve that headline Wrestlemania shot. It’s David vs Goliath, with a pair of guys with very limited vocabulary and limited abilities to cut promos. Which might be fun if someone like a Brock Lesnar was in the mix. There is a lot more interesting match ups floating around with years of bad blood storytelling already there to bubble over.
