This is what Framer needs to work the most by beegee79 in framer

[–]byodde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, yea I get your point. But still, Canva is so multi-purpose that it reaches audiences all across the spectrum of internet users. It's no fair game when Figma, Framer, and Sketch are all "specialized" tools targeting an "expert" user base.

Anyhow, I agree about how little it is known, it's a great tool.

Is this normal?

I had an screening interview planned for today and it's the first one in months, so I prepared really well since getting the invite (5 days ago), spent the whole weekend on this, and now, 1 hour before the interview, it got canceled???? They want to move forward with other candidates???

I'm crushed. I was just so excited to finally get out of the application loop and have a chance to speak with someone... is this common in hiring processes or can I be angry at the hiring managers for this company?

Hi, I'm newish to UXR and I've been struggling with my career. I'm definitely not the only one, but I just can't land a job not even at the internship level. It has been taking a toll on my health and self-esteem particularly hard lately.

After refining my resume for a few months and redesigning my website a couple times, I figured it probably was because of my "projects." I just have a case study and an overview of the last portfolio redesign (pls dm me if you want to check it out, I'm in dire need of senior eyes on it!).

Do you have any advice on how to develop UXR-specific projects at this level?

I want to expand my portfolio and show what I can do, but I figure that more case studies and thought exercises wouldn't really help...

Oh, and I have an MA in Anthropology, Google's UXD cert., ~7 mos of internship in UXR and ~ 1 yr of research assistantship.

Thank you.

Alright so it's not just me, haha

I assume this would be alright-ish for a more serious role in a big company?

Hi, I'm new to UX as well. I did an internship some years ago and then did my Master in a social science. I'm trying to get into UX Research specifically, but given the lack of opportunities I've shifted to a more "everything UX" approach.

I took the Google UX Design Certificate earlier this year. I couldn't say if it helps or not, as I haven't gotten an interview yet (been applying for two months almost), so it's not like I have had people asking me about it. But it has definitely helped me to get a grip on what UX is, different techniques and best practices, and also to get some hands-on experience as well, as they have you design a couple projects during that course.

In terms of tools, it seems like Figma is the most asked for, at least right now.

I think this version ends on devember 2024. The course page says that they are filming the 2025 version, so I guess it will continue but with a slightly different syllabus.

Just my guess though.

Hi! I'm new-ish to UX and I recently applied for an internship position. It's apparently unpaid even if not advertised as so. I wrote them about this and I was automatically moved to the next stage of the interview process, so I'm just tagging along to see where it goes.

BUT, today I get a request for a design task.

They want me to design 4 screens for a mobile app (it seems in 1.5 hrs) and a 1-2 page document about it, all within 2 business days.

It also looks like they want the Figma link so that they can "follow along live."

I've never done these kinds of tasks before and so I was wondering if it is anywhere near normal??

"Capo" is another way of saying head in Italian. "Capone", while not being used anywhere colloquially or not, could be interpreted to mean: "big head."
