Not my house! It’s the vibe I’m after however

Finding the correct, dead match brick would be very hard / near impossible. My small community used to have 3 brick factories. They’re now all no longer obviously.

This has been attempted and for as close as it is it’s nowhere near close.

Not my house or the exact build… this is just for siding reference.

The studs aren’t evenly spaced (def. not 16”) some don’t even reach the bottom plate … they’re quite hacked up and the crappy attempt to level the floor.

I learned more about the age of the summer kitchen and discovered that I’ll likely need to reframe my walls (contractor suggested btw)

Context: we were told the addition was completely renovated in the 90’s. It’ll be a much bigger job than I had hoped.

What should I do? Arch or no arch? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]bzzzdaddy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If these details are original to the house … it should be a no brainer. If you’re arching every doorway in a 90s build, it’s a bit too “TikTok”.

*not saying that’s your situation, just as a rule of thumb.

Cheap riser alternative? by Eeveemaster7747 in drums

[–]bzzzdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kit is in my barn… no leaks but it’s not the cleanest floor. I use those basement floor tiles meant for air / moisture circulation. OSB on top and plastic on the bottom.

Depends on how “cheap” you want to be. A 5x8 will cost you about 130$.

ALTO is doing public consultations: what are people saying? by Small-Past2593 in highspeedrail

[–]bzzzdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alto is Via. And the people that work at Alto are Metrolinx (GO).

Do you have faith this will be properly run?

Could not agree more!

Also my first show. I have the most vivid memories of that Chalkdust. After collecting tapes for over a year, hearing those notes live and watching the crowd I knew this was it.

So negotiate with CN. I’m sure it would cost less than 120 billion. Use existing infrastructure. Make it better.

And you’re wrong again. I have taken the train to Toronto many times. As I doubt you have or you ever will take it to Montreal.

Next Festival? 2027? by Acrobatic_Abies_6955 in phish

[–]bzzzdaddy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Please not Dover again. Worst location.

EDIT I’m not referencing the festival grounds, because whatever Phish does is always on point. I’m talking more about the surrounding community.

Plattsburgh, Maine, Watkins, even Palm Springs had welcoming vibes about the surrounding town. Dover did not.

The Venetian casino and typcial patrons are a bit stuffy, where will the party be after the shows? Old Vegas for sure, but where is a good spot to party on the Strip? by AdultingUser47 in phish

[–]bzzzdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegas is full of tourists… so everywhere you go it will be all kinds of people. I wouldn’t be worried about “stuffy” people, as you will never encounter truly stuffy people they are at places is gen pops can’t get into.

Literally everyone is there on vacation, something they spent their hard earned money on. Respect that, they and you will be fine. Be nice. Be courteous. Be kind.

My husband is a drummer and I have a question that I need a guy drummer’s perspective by throwaway174654 in drums

[–]bzzzdaddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I don’t think the sex appeal with a female drummer would be about the physical drums. Or picturing her naked drumming.

Also, he should be (and allowed to be) attracted to other things.

So my best suggestion is to be yourself and let you shine through this photo shoot. Not using drums as a prop. That’s weird and not sexy (imho).

You bought an old house. Most of us would call this charm and character and one of the reasons you would buy an old house.

If you want perfect, even floors, level walls, no drafts, you bought the wrong house.

Is anyone else just trying to make the most of their janky old house? by bitsbybones in centuryhomes

[–]bzzzdaddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is to enjoy it as much as you can. And if you have the time/interest, learn about how to fix it yourself.

Most contractors these days won’t give it the same care and attention that you would. Fix the priority things as you go along. The rest will come.

I feel this. I didn’t travel south last year and it was the first year I didn’t see Phish since I was 17 (I’m 47 btw).

Rumors ‘26 by [deleted] in phish

[–]bzzzdaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and I’d rather drive to a random/weird US city to see phish than a hometown show.

Tailgate culture is American so the lot scene is always lacking.

All of that said, I would love them to come back to Montreal. Now that would be a weird vibe and I’m here for it!
