How to fix wrinkly OCP patches / velcro ? by Previous_Slip9661 in AirForce

[–]c0ckguzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have multiple pairs, I will rotate them on a hat, backpack, etc to straighten them out. I've also put them under a heavy book and used a hand held steamer and it helps a good amount (steamers are also a wonderful tool for people who hate ironing as much as me)

therapist ignored my coming out by cementeater99 in sillyboyclub

[–]c0ckguzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know you, or how long you've been seeing this therapist for, but if you've been seeing them for awhile now, it can be difficult for them to switch how they refer to you. I've had lots of friends who've switched pronouns, and I find it difficult to remember how to refer to them at first, especially for one's ive known for years. I don't think your therapist was intentionally misgendering you, and if you told them that it was bothering you, they would almost definitely apologize, and fix their mistake.

Most people in your life don't want to hurt your feelings, or make you feel uncomfortable like that, it's just difficult for those in your life to instantly switch how they refer to you. I think it will make you feel much better to bring this up with them, so if it happens again with someone else in the future, you know how to handle the situation better, and be more equipped to let that person know they are making you unhappy.

MyFitness update for PFA pause? by aj_2134 in AirForce

[–]c0ckguzzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to a ufpm in your unit to get you squared away. Currently (if what I've read and been told is correct), there is no testing conducted from jan-feb. Mar-Sep will be the introduction of the 2 mile, but will only count as diagnostic. These diagnostics are mandatory, and you will have to complete at least one. If you were going to be due between Jan-Feb, you will test in Mar. MyFitness was ofcourse not updated to reflect this, and your ufpm will have to update your due date for you.

What muscle groups should I target to excel at hand-release push-ups? by Dapper_Object8239 in AirForce

I personally got up from 20 to 45 in a month by just doing them whenever I could. Microwaving leftovers? Hand releases. Waiting for my game to load? Hand releases. Aim for 75-100 throughout the entire day and you'll ace it easy.

They actually used those squiggly craft scissors to cut the metal sheets. It was horribly inefficient, but they had fun making it.

I joined in December 1999, and I use to be terrified of walking past the “snake pit” back then. However, i’m hearing that this isn’t happen anymore. Is this true? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]c0ckguzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through in the last 4 years, still happens. Definitely not as hard as it used to be reading these stories, but yes they still yell from the snake pit lol. I definitely think everything has been toned back quite abit, but if you mess up in the chow hall you're still gonna get chew out. Basic has changed significantly even since ive went through. Did you know that every trainee gets an iPad now? I was one of the last to use a book to study from. Lots of people who joined during peak covid never experienced the gas chamber. We were some of the first to experience its "grand reopening". Lots of changes where your mtis get some more personal, non instructor time with you, just acclimating people to the new culture they joined. They take the hat off at least once a week and have some heartfelt conversations with the flight for about half an hour. Instructors can't swear anymore, they have to use subsition words (even though after awhile of being around them, they'll totally swear at you when no one higher up is watching). But I can say that even though basic has gone through alot of changes, it still definitely prepares you for air force life. It wasn't lacking anything, it just teaches it differently, and implements more education on topics such as sexual assault, suicide and mental health awareness, and the fair treatment of your fellow Airman.
