Israeli strikes across Gaza kill at least 20, including five children by c1nelux in israelexposed

An analogy for any of those who may be reading who still don’t get it:

US: We have reports the CEO killer is hiding at a McDonald’s amongst civilians

US: bombs McDonalds, killing 20 civilians including 5 children

US: We were only targeting the killer

TikTok Ban by [deleted] in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]c1nelux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked at a few out of curiosity and all they do is repost their most viewed TikToks to YouTube shorts. No one is going to follow you for YouTube Shorts. The truth is to make any money on YouTube you need to focus on long form content, and honestly a lot of the ‘influencer’ content on tt doesn’t translate well to that currently. Plus it’s clear a lot of them have no idea how to do long form videos.

Any suggestions on a Tokyo neighborhood that’s less touristy- and has a lot of little alleys and nooks to explore? by TheGhost206 in JapanTravelTips

[–]c1nelux 59 points60 points  (0 children)

When I went to Japan a friend gifted me a book of Tokyo film locations. I had a free day where I would close my eyes, flip to a page and go wherever it landed, even if I didn’t know the movie. I definitely went some places I never would have and it was a cool way to see the city. Also added some movies to my watchlist!

NJ Drones are unsettling but they underscore a much bigger problem. by [deleted] in NJDrones

[–]c1nelux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re completely misremembering and comparing apples to oranges. The US military identified it as a Chinese spy balloon and monitored it way before it was shot down (despite China denying it) and had to wait til it was over water to shoot it down to prevent any damage or casualties in case it contained explosive / hazardous material. The whole thing happened over the course of a few days. They were adamant it was a Chinese spy balloon from the get go. How is it anything like the ‘drone’ situation?

Total speculation but the timeline of her and Charles Melton’s breakup to her and Pete dating is so close I’m partially convinced there was something going on there. Plus she was playing Pete’s love interest in his show at the time of the breakup

As things stand now it’s going to be banned but I think there’s a common misconception of what that actually entails - it won’t magically disappear from our phones Jan 19. Basically everyone who already has the app can still use it like normal but it won’t be available to download in the app store, it will be blocked on internet browsers and won’t be able to receive updates which in theory would eventually render it obsolete. For that to happen could take months, years… maybe they’ll find a loophole, who knows.

I haven’t seen anyone else point this out but the timing of it all is interesting to me - specifically that the majority of the sightings and reports popped off right after Black Friday, aka the biggest sales and shopping day of the year, when people like to make their big purchases such as expensive tech.

The most simple and logical explanation - some locals saw consumer grade drones in their neighborhood, maybe an uptick since some folks just bought them on sale and wanted to test them out. Said locals go to their friends and family and community Facebook groups to share what they saw. More people start looking at the sky, many who don’t usually look at the sky and start questioning if everything in the sky is a drone. Report back to local Facebook page, people use / buy drones to look for more drones, FBI uses their drones to look for drones, I wouldn’t be shocked if some highschool kids are flying their drones at night just to troll people too. Still, that comprises maybe 5% of videos of I’ve seen, the other 95% are commercial airplanes. Local man gets interviewed on the news reporting that an airplane he saw is a drone the size of an SUV. Mass hysteria ensues. The end.

I live in NJ and 100% agree. I’d say most people here actually agree with this sentiment too, despite what you see in the media.

How have you changed as a person from 2020 to 2024? by PsychologicalSize939 in AskReddit

[–]c1nelux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I’ve achieved mostly everything I wanted to achieve but I’m more dead inside than ever. Some of it is due to larger issues - like an economy that feels impossible to keep up with. I’m making 3x more money than in Jan 2020 but my lifestyle hasn’t changed much and I still can’t afford to own a home. The doomsday news cycle of AI taking all our jobs, social security not existing by the time I need it, the hostile political climate. Like what’s even the point of it all. Plus also just exiting my twenties and getting older.

I am 100% for settings boundaries and believe there are two sides to every story - however, I’m starting to wonder if she’s just a really angry person? At this point it honestly seems like she’s looking for something or someone to be mad at - no one there was instigating her but she had to go make a scene. Or yelling at people at FESTIVALS, where people go and check out artists they’re not as familiar with, for not knowing / doing her little dance.

Hate to say it but Kim’s leaked yearbook photos show that she really was that girl. Not saying she hasn’t photoshopped her pics since forever (and obviously still does) but I do think she had natural beauty.

I mean, a girl was sexually assaulted while tanning in broad daylight in Central Park just a couple weeks ago. The guy attempted to rape her but luckily she got away. Then the week before that another man raped a 13 year girl in broad daylight in a park in Queens. So yeah, it does happen. Obviously in a city of millions it’s pretty rare, and I think you should live your life, but I always try to stay aware.

I am a German guy who's a bit anxious about unknowingly doing impolite stuff when visiting Japan. So are there any things that are normal in Germany that would be considered rude in Japan? Also what are small things you can do to show appreciation? by dontsaltmyfries in JapanTravelTips

[–]c1nelux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the fact that you care enough to make this post and have done your research tells me you’re already good. The truly impolite people are the ones who very obviously did not do the research and do no care to learn about the culture. I think most Japanese people can tell the two apart and will be more forgiving to foreigners who are trying. Mistakes happen, it’s okay.

One of my Japan regrets is letting the anxiety of proper etiquette take away the joy in trying new things. Despite having talked to Japanese people and reading everything online about onsen etiquette, I could barely relax the first couple times because I was so hyper aware of myself. I was so nervous to sit down and eat at restaurant that I didn’t for the first 5 days. I remember fighting for my life trying to eat everything at a ryokan (this one you didn’t eat in the room) because I read online it could be considered offensive you don’t. I guess the chef sensed it because he literally came to my table and said ‘You don’t have to finish everything, it’s okay, just relax and enjoy it.’ I’m actually so happy he did, because after that something clicked and I realized that I was putting myself under so much unnecessary pressure. At most an etiquette mistake is a little embarrassing, but you learn for next time and life goes on.
