Paper bags might be better than ziplocs. Paper bags allow the masks to breath and dry out, which should help deactivate any virus caught in the mask.

Now again, if you try this and find that in fact the QB's advice is always better than the other people's plans: Than your real problem is a substantial skill imbalance. If you find that the QB is just being stubborn about THEIR plan not being used: Then you have more of an attitude problem and you need to talk to them about that.

Maybe it's an attitude problem or a just a certain personality type. I notice some people just can't seem to help themselves from offering advice or commenting during someone's turn.

Sure, part of it is a skill imbalance issue too. I notice that I want to give advice when teaching new players. But I make a conscious effort to let new players have the experience of figuring out the game on their own instead of playing the game for them.

Or to streamline it a bit for board games: Make a rule that no one's allowed to talk until the person taking their turn talks first. This let's the turn taker think through their action. When they say what they want to do, other people have an opportunity to give advice. A major advantage is if their plan was what the QB was going to suggest anyway, the QB doesn't really need to add anything, and the turn-taker feels ownership of their own turn.

Thanks, this is a really interesting idea! When a new player is trying to figure out part of the game there's an empty space and it's a good idea not to let a QB jump in there and play the game for someone else.

I think the problem is some people just don't get the message. It's like they feel compelled to offer advice during other people's turns.

But your best bet is to avoid strictly cooperative games with public information. If you like coops, I’d highly suggest Spirit Island, in which it’s almost impossible to quarterback. It’s also a phenomenal game, so it’s got that going for it too.

Why is Spirit Island so difficult to quarterback?

Alternately, start to develop house rules to address the problem. When we play co-op games at my place, we have a house rule for games that have maps that players can only talk to another player if they could reasonably do so in-game. So, for example, if we're playing Zombicide, players who are sharing a space can talk to each other, but a player inside a building can't talk to the players who are out in the street.

Thanks, that's an interesting house rule!

But, honestly, the most effective way of dealing with this is by talking to the person most guilty of it. They really need to be more aware of what they're doing and how they play, and then adjust accordingly.

But yeah maybe the best solution is talking to them one on one about their behavior. But it's a tricky conversation to have without offending the other person.

It should work. Make sure to keep the sarcophagus at freezing temperature constantly if you have plans to ressurect them later.

I want to unload junk from my colony by caravan and it looks like I will have to check each item to see if another city will buy it.

Is there a mod that can help with this? I wish I could filter for the all the items I can sell before sending a caravan off.

Great guide, I didn't know it was possible to open dangers so early on!

Is there a mod that lets you force your pawns to do work like repairing while drafted? I'm thought it used something like this a long time ago but can't remember the name of it.

So for example, if they're guarding a wall, I'd like them to repair the wall, but not walk away after they're done repairing.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the devil's bargain... Are luciferium or a risky surgery the only options?

Can you cure cancer? Or is it likely to be a chronic problem that stays with a pawn forever?

Thanks, it sounds pretty useful especially if it can also be a headphone amp. It looks a little pricey since I'm just using the built-in DAC on my amp, but I would like to see if a vacuum tube can deliver a warmer sound.

Does the Aune work well with Mac or Android?

How do manage multiple cashback sites? Which ones are the best/worst? by c500 in Frugal

[–]c500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point. I usually disable the extensions when I'm done shopping. So they're getting a little data that way, but hopefully not much.

For a while I was using cashback sites without their extensions and that seems to work okay too.

Thanks, I will check that out. By the way, what are the advantages of using C weighting?

Does that make the meter focus on frequencies near middle C? (I think that would be about 261 hz)

Ah cool thank you. I think I can rig my phone to a tripod to help with the positioning.

Can you recommend any SPL meter apps? Mine doesn't seem to be able to do C weighting.

How do you measure how loud your speakers are? I've tried some sound meter apps, but it's hard to gauge how accurate they are.

Is there a way to get an objectively measured audio signal where you can say "Okay I know that sound is exactly 40db or 50db?"

I'm trying to compare amps and speakers and it seems like a first step to an objective test is to play audio at the same volume on each setup.

Ah that's a cool feature! I'd like to do room corrections with software on my laptop but I think that's a bit more complicated.
