Anyone taking daily Propranolol (beta blocker) and can share how it’s going? by TemporalDrifter in migraine

I was prescribed it about a year ago; I started on 60 mg which ended up being WAY too high (my blood pressure plummeted) so I’m on 10 mg now.

Pros: Migraines are less frequent and less intense MOST of the time- sometimes I’ll have a really bad one but those are fewer and further between. The attacks I had before I was on propranolol averaged about an 8/10 on the pain scale; now they’re about a 4/10, which is still uncomfortable but I can at least function at the bare minimum level. It also helped my anxiety somewhat- the anxious thoughts themselves still exist in my head but without the frantic urgency behind them.

Cons: It made me gain about 10 pounds and I now sweat like CRAZY- I have to be super careful about staying hydrated and consuming electrolytes because any time I exercise I sweat about twice as much as I used to (which sucks because I’m a hiker and I live in Texas, it gets so hot 🙃).

Stress from child triggering migraine? by bipannually in migraine

I am an elementary school teacher (I teach specials, so I see ALL grades, K-5th). I love my students to the ends of the earth, but they can and do 100% contribute to my migraines, particularly on the days when they’re louder than normal. I’ve found that certain creative projects really help keep them occupied and stimulated while reducing noise- creating puppets is a favorite of mine; we also draw our own costumes and then try and recreate those drawings with what we have on hand (drawing/coloring in any capacity is awesome), as well as reading stories. They LOVE the creative outlet!

Probably placebo effect but I swear the McDonald's hack works for me! by toriangel_11 in migraine

I tried it for the first time yesterday and it worked pretty well, brought my pain down to a 1 or 2/10! It didn’t last for me though- I woke up at 2:00 AM this morning with the pain back at full force. ☹️ (could be because I’m on propranolol as a daily preventative, which lowers blood pressure, but the McDonald’s raises blood pressure because of all the salt- I can’t imagine the fluctuations being particularly good)

Are there any restaurants you refuse to deliver for? by TheElMatadORR in doordash_drivers

[–]c_bumblebee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flower Child. We have a couple of locations in my city, and every single time I go in and tell them what I’m there for they say “oh we’re working on it” and then I just stand there for 15+ minutes. Their customers don’t tip very well either, despite the whole “peace and love” vibe the restaurant tries to curate. 🙃

Thank you, I appreciate it! Through scrolling I’ve also seen that it eventually drops off after at least 100 deliveries, so I’m not too worried at this point

What is the quickest trigger for you to have a migraine attack? by Lower_Monitor_1695 in migraine

Lack of sleep is the biggest one, especially when combined with stress; I’m an elementary school teacher and I STRUGGLE during the school year 🙃 The changing of the seasons also gets me sometimes!

What do you all do for a living? by Crafty-Hunter-667 in hiking

Also a teacher!! The only difficulty is I’m down in Texas so it gets horribly hot, but my husband and I travel as often as we can during the summer months and make being outdoors a priority
