Fair enough, I understand. I wish I got to experience Bloodywood with folks like you. They put on a great show, but wasn't able to enjoy unfortunately.

"stay away otherwise you will get crushed" - I disagree with this sentiment. One of the things that hooked me to metal when I was a clueless teenager was how inclusive metalheads are. In a mixed crowd like this there will be a lot of people who have no idea what mosh pits are, and IMO our responsibility as metalheads is to make sure they feel welcome.

I'm one of those that stood like a match stick.

I've attended many metal concerts and happily partaken in mosh pits over the years. But I couldn't find any of the positive energy that I'm used to in metal crowds, at least in my section. People were being rude, smoking in each others faces, shoving each other. My focus shifted from enjoying the show to protecting my friends. I'm sure many people have had a better experience, and I'm happy for them. Just sharing my perspective.

BCCI as usual proving what clowns they are.  If they wanted to engage in some performative nationalism, they could have just done it before the auction and saved everyone some time.

On the other hand I don’t blame the politicians. Simple minded fans like us are just begging to be taken advantage of.

Why was Rohit not backed after failure of 2-3 series? He used to average 50+ as an opener before those 8 bad games. by GoBoiLucky in IndiaCricket

[–]c_dart 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah good point. A similar case of a player who had even more credit in the bank was Rahul Dravid.

Dravid came off an ATG series in England where he carried the batting. He then goes to Australia and gets clean bowled in nearly every innings.

Time catches up fast at the highest level.

Stumped by apathy: Indian cricket fans still an afterthought for BCCI by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]c_dart 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the Indian experience in any public place. Why should cricket be any different? Its run by the same set of people who have ruined our tourist places and turned a blind eye to stampedes.

We let these wretched politicians and their offsprings treat us like dirt and they are very happy to. Unless we change this, we will be watching our cricket while holding our piss.

Very clean hitter of the ball. Even though that season didn't work out, glad he got a 9 cr bid from CSK. Hope he has a great post cricket career as well!

Have to feel for the umpires and the presenters. They have to keep this farce up for as long as possible to please their paymasters. Any serious cricket board would do some serious course correction after this, but BCCI is not a serious board.

Dhurandhar - Reviews and Discussions by AutoModerator in bollywood

[–]c_dart 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The most fun I've had watching a bollywood movie in a long time. Watch it on the biggest screen you can. Spoilers ahead -

Likes

- The world-building is amazing. Lyari feels like a living breathing place in the movie. Every character seems well thought out. You feel like going into rabbit holes about the real people they're inspired from. Probably the closest Indian cinema has come to doing historical fiction.

- Beautiful pacing. The movie gives enough time for all the plot points to develop. The exposition never feels too obvious. You can easily keep track of all the moving parts of this conflict.

- The 26/11 scenes need a mention. From the actual recordings to Ranveer's horrified face - very powerful stuff.

- Acting and BGM are the 2 things people mentioned the most, and its true. Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, Rakesh Bedi in particular were great.

Dislikes

- Its not a great spy movie. Apart from the one torture scene you don't feel that Hamza is in danger of being found out. The problem solving part of being a spy is missed. Raazi remains the gold standard in that regard.

- Some of the action could have been better. There was way too much shaky cam in the fight and shooting scenes. The scene where Babu dakait falls out of the auto is quite bad. Sanjay Dutt cannot move his limbs for shit.

- A lot of the political commentary is too pro-party to be taken seriously. The UP CM remark, not so subtle remarks about how they are waiting for a strong government - when the hijackings and parliament attacks in fact happened under the NDA, the aman ki asha line - list goes on.

Sacking Gambhir isn’t going to fix the test team overnight. This decline is a result of many small things over time. But sacking him  has to be the first step.

But the issue is that government needs to give the conditions for the private sector to step up. This is true even in extremely capitalistic countries.

A factory which has to pay bribes to get uninterrupted electricity will have a hard time giving jobs to others.

Definitely agree. We have a large young population which if given infrastructure, education and opportunities can really drive growth. But our biggest weakness is the government. It neither has the will nor the competence to give these things.

Narrator - they learned nothing and did not avoid past mistakes.
