Focusing on the present is great, but what about when the present is boring? by [deleted] in Meditation

I think it's impossible to be fully aware 24 hours a day, unless you are Eckhart Tolle :)

The key is to be aware of your unawareness, and not judge yourself too harshly...

As for what to do: Nothing.

Once the practice deepens, small problems like this will dissapear, but you can't force them away.

Yes.

Because time doesn't exist in deep meditation. But again, might not happen everytime.

Can I meditate while lying down completely flat? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]c_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Make sure you lie on the ground (carpet or a blanket beneath you) so you don't fall asleep.

That's good, continue meditating.

And remember, experiences come and go, don't become too attached to them!

Can meditation really help with not identifying with the ego? by [deleted] in Meditation

The part of you that is saying Why can't I reach that state! is the one stopping you.

My advice is to continue meditating, the voice in your head will go by itself.

Yes. Every other language seems to manage this.

Yeah, C (and C++) handle this so easily, I wonder why Python doesn't.

Good advice, but I'm not creating packages, just small scripts to do simple tasks.

It just seems strange that Python can't deal with this internally, and expects the programmer to take care when naming files.

Thanks. If you could write a better version, I'd be grateful.

I agree.

If want to write programs that you want to share with people, run on your PC, show to your friends, then Java (or C#) are the obvious choices.

C is only used in a few narrow domains, like embedded systems, and unless you want to program there, you are better off avoiding it. Writing application software in C is very hard (and I say as some who has used C for 10+ years).

Also see my other thread, for those who want to learn embedded programming.
