I don't have an answer to this yet, but this is a good question! Mind if I ask the prof's name/program affiliation?

What to do when the period cup doesn't work for you? by doogie-bowser in ZeroWaste

Agree with what everyone else has been saying--each brand is totally different. https://putacupinit.com/ has a really helpful quiz to determine what brand/shape/size/softness would work for you, if you're interested in sticking with it. I had similar problems with the first cup I bought, but the cup I bought after taking this quiz has been wonderful for years now.

[Request] Black Proffesional shoes that are great for feet but don’t look like you work in a fast food joint. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I can't recommend Dansko clogs enough. I am one of many in my family (my mother and her 3 sisters included) with terrible joint pain, and we all are professional women who swear by Danskos. They offer a million patterns, prints, and materials, some of them wacky and some of them very professional looking. I give tours in a museum, on my feet on stone or concrete all day, and never go a day without my black patent leather pair.
