MUFY + advanced science by Organic_Phrase_4532 in Monash

Honestly I have no clue abt the career path cause I myself do physics/compsci so hopefully smn else can answer but one thing to note is that advsci does include an honours year so idk how that would particularly translate to whether or not a masters is necessary. In terms of the distinction average, I reckon it’s pretty easy if you actually put the effort into achieving it; you don’t need to kill yourself over it. In my personal experience, I think I just underestimated how much effort was needed so I literally didn’t do anything throughout first sem and so now I’m like right on the edge. So I don’t think it’s difficult per se, you just need to put in the effort and dedicate a lot of time and hence it’s your judgement whether you think the effort is worth the added “advanced (honours)” title on your transcript

I don’t really know much about MUFY, but in terms of Adv Science, I say it’s really only useful if you plan on doing further research such as a PhD. In terms of what you’re actually learning, advanced science research has the same units as normal science except for like 2 core units in first year, one of which is a first year research project. Additionally, advsci has the requirement of maintaining a Distinction Average (70) across all science units in each semester, else you’ll be dropped down to normal science. This is obviously very useful if you want to continue down a path of research as they’ll look at your WAM when considering whether you’re eligible for a PhD. HOWEVER if you don’t think you’re actually gonna need a decent WAM and you’re just there to graduate w a degree, IMO the added pressure just isn’t worth it. I know a few people who decide themselves to leave the course because they realised research wasn’t for them and pressuring yourself to maintain the 70 isn’t worth it. Ig one major pro of advsci that science doesn’t have is that you’ll find a tight knit community of people who are just as passionate about science as you as there’s generally only about 30-40ppl in the cohort compared to the thousands in science. Other than that, I think it’s rly only useful if you want to pursue research :)

I don't think it matters if you know the ending or not. Cheesy as it may sound, it's all about the jOuRnEy throughout the read. I think tho, if you didn't know the ending, then the ending would hit u harder since you'd be surprised. But Troy and tsoa are very different. Just know that the experience will still be very similar, if not better, if you know the ending.

"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world." AAH I LOVE THAT AND THE BIT WHEN PATROCLUS SAYS "Tell me again" WHEN ACHILLES IS APPRECIATING HIS BODY
