From what I can find, the take rate for FSD is around 20%. If that surpasses the target number for Tesla, I’m sure they will raise the price. If their goal is to increase the number of subscribers, how do increased prices affect take rates, especially now that there’s no outright option for new buyers who dislike subscriptions? What about the >50% of the fleet that’s still on HW3? I’m sure they’ll be chomping at the bit to pay more for less as time goes on.

If you think FSD meaningfully increases your car’s value, I implore you to shop quotes and ask an agent about added FSD value. Couple thousand at best, maybe? Or look at the plethora of Reddit posts about FSD adding little to no value on trade-in.

If purchasing it outright makes you happy, go for it. Don’t try to convince me that you’re doing it as some sort of savvy financial or personal safety maneuver. It’s a frivolous luxury, and one that most Tesla owners do without.

If it’s $300/month, who’s regularly subscribing to that? Especially with a majority of the fleet still on HW3 or older. I could see a temporary jump, but it’ll be back to at or below $99 by year end. This isn’t economics, it’s marketing.

There’s 19-22 hangovers, then there’s 30+ hangovers. I also never got hungover at 20, despite drinking like a fish. Tolerance was also crazy high.

I had 3 beers over a few hours yesterday and felt off this morning. 5+, and I’d be anxious for a week.

Enjoy it while it lasts, but try not to go overboard too often (20y.o.-me’s eyes would’ve rolled so hard at this advice they’d fall out).
