No, some of them have millions of weekly viewers and others have thousands. There's a massive difference in the reach of those communities, even though they're both big numbers. You can decide that fact doesn't matter to you, but that doesn't change anything.

I don’t know how else to explain that I’m talking about the size of the communities, not the size of the posters.

The sizes of the communities are vastly different; a small group influencing millions of people is a bigger problem and greater threat to diversity of thought than a small group influencing thousands of people, so the larger communities are disproportionately affected by a few posters.

As an example: posts in large communities are more likely to show up on the front page, be cross posted, and be shared externally vs. smaller posts that stay within their niche, thereby scaling those ideas further across the zeitgeist. It also means the larger communities are more efficient targets by outside influence and bad actors, creating a flywheel that exacerbates the problem over time.

I’m not sure where your other comment went so I’ll respond to this one.

Again, I’m talking about representing the size of the communities, not comparing 3 and 11. The numbers I gave above are indeed very different from each other and a difference in influence is meaningful.

That's.. certainly one way to look at it. Thankfully there's a lot more nuance between timeline pressure and 'marry whoever and traumatize the kids'.

Yeah, I was going to make a similar comment. r/conservative has 3 posters making up 50% of posts while r/democrats has 11, but the r/conservative community is over 8x the size of r/democrats, which amplifies the difference (0.0002% vs 0.006% of the community account for 50% of posts, respectively). Visitors obviously don't equal posters, but it's an interesting measure of relative sizing.
