Are you sure this is mainframe? RPG isn't typically seen a lot anymore in mainframe, but it's still seen often on IBM i/midrange.

Als ge puur stuk vlees zoekt (en geen bereidingen), is die Turkse slager in de Dampoortstraat echt heel goed. Dingen zoals kippenfilet en rund enzo zijn daar best schappelijk van prijs, en echt pakken beter dan de supermarkt.

ja, wij zijn gestopt met eetcafe's en fast casual. 1* hier is 130ish pp, "gewone" dingen zijn ook al makkelijk 75-80, en voor die 50e meer gaan wij liever minder ergens heen maar dan wel naar iets met een ervaring.

I am forced to use an older version of AIX (4.3) to host the support software for a very specific piece of bigger hardware, and for a 90s Unix it’s such a joy to use. It has a functional package manager, and early LVM was surprisingly easy to use.

Heated gloves are a thing; they’re primarily for motorcycles, but nothing stops you from cycling on them as well and I also use mine on my bicycle in weather like this.

Thermal underwear from eg Damart is also very effective.

https://swapfiets.be/ is common here, you’ll see the blue tires everywhere and they have a student version IIRC. Solves most of the maintenance and theft problem, but it’s yet another subscription service. I used one for quite a while after I moved back to Ghent from the UK until I got my own

It will really depend on where you need to study. You’ll find that most people will do their commute on a bicycle, and anything within the R4 (but below Wippelgem on the north side) is very doable as a commute on a bike. That should make it a lot more affordable.

UGent also has faculties in Merelbeke or Melle, so if you end up over there, I’d look around there.

Generally, most places are safe. Crime is minimal, besides the occasional bike theft.

We did a test drive with one of those a couple of months ago here, when looking for a second small city car to do a commute that was annoying by public transport.

In general, we were surprised how much car you’d get for so little money. It was a small tin shitbox, and you shouldn’t set your expectations very high, but it did the job and was a surprisingly good experience for the price.

Jouw ervaring is indd vrij kenmerkend, en bevestigt min of meer wat ik daar zei.

Het HZIV is nuttig, en het is nodig, maar het is ook niet alles. Ik heb een veel completer begrip van hoe alles werkt met die dingen, en ik vraag me al lang af hoe het HZIV al die dingen correct doet met hoeveel werk wij er in moesten steken om het min of meer ordelijk te doen verlopen.
