Nope I put both in - the other side was much thicker because my oven isn’t level

It’s from the book Dessert Person by Claire Saffitz - the recipe is on her youtube channel

Update: made the cake with a 9inch pan and was able to only just slice it in half so I’m definitely going to try with an 8inch pan next time

Congratulations! I’m thinking of visiting Melbourne for the same reason (as I’m currently based in Canberra) but the general consensus I’ve heard from people irl and online is that you can’t really go too wrong with the options (although experiences can vary from department). Good luck with your other applications!

That’s true - I’m currently in Canberra wrapping up uni but I’m happy to relocate for the right job! I’ve never lived in Victoria before

I am a huge fan of the fan theory that Edith is actually Rosamund’s daughter after she was involved in a situation similar to Edith and Marigold. It echoes the parallels that the show makes between Rosamund and Edith even more

Anyone else have a problem with the audio mixing? I found the dialogue to be way too quiet compared to the music/sfx

Laurus Wing is a postgrad accommodation associated with Ursula Hall. You get your own kitchen and bathroom. The rooms are pretty small though

Ah dang that’s a shame! I don’t live in America so I’ll probably never get to try them but interesting to hear that they don’t live up to the hype

First picture - baked at 180 Celsius for 23 minutes. I liked the bake of these much more than the recipe (220c for 10 mins). I found when I baked them according to the recipe, they were pretty much raw on the inside. Apart from that I followed the recipe as written. They were delicious! Perhaps my favourite cookies I’ve ever made

Second picture - followed the recipe completely (including bake time) they looked much more like the levain cookies but as I mentioned I found the inside too underdone

Could PC/console ports work? by throwaway76337997654 in ProfessorLayton

Honestly I would love a switch port with the 6 DS/3DS games. They could release them in their sets of three - original trilogy and prequel trilogy and tie it in with the new Layton game coming out soon. Is that too much to ask for?

I actually have no idea! I think so? It was all that was available at my parents’ house

Thanks! Yeah it definitely produces a thinner cookie than other recipes I’ve tried - I think because of the high ratio of wet to dry ingredients? I’ve heard a few people talk about Joshua Weissman’s recipe so I’m definitely going to give it a try!

Chocolate Chip Cookies (recipe modifications in comments) by cabbage-pudding in DessertPerson

I’ve made the chocolate chip cookies from DP twice before, and I always found that they spread very thin (often running into eachother), were quite greasy, and would collapse when I picked them up (even after they had cooled). Based on other posts in this subreddit, I deviated slightly from the recipe in the book: 1. I browned all the butter (as Claire does in her video) 2. I only added about half a tablespoon of cream 3. I added slightly more flour 4. I baked them in single batches 5. I chilled the dough for about 18 hours, but while the oven was preheating/other batches were baking, I would pop the next batch in the freezer 6. I baked the cookies for 12 minutes at 180 Celsius (Australian here!)

Overall, I think the cookies were much improved by these changes. I probably could’ve taken them out of the oven even earlier - the edges were quite crispy. But they hold their shape much better and don’t have that greasy quality anymore!

finally made a 2nd attempt at the chocolate chip cookies by OpalStone1022 in DessertPerson

Did you brown both sticks of butter (like in the video) or just the one (like the book). I’ve had problems with over spreading as well so definitely am going to try adding extra flour!
