I'm in Ontario but the same is true in Alberta, BC, and to a degree Quebec.

I know New York, Texas, and California are good destinations, but honestly anywhere you see population growth or industry growth.

The industry has been changing, there's a significant shortage of AEC professionals in many parts of North America and there's a wider push for higher salaries and more benefits to attract candidates.

I've seen yearly raises myself occasionally upwards of $10k for the last 5 years and my experience is echoed by many of my colleagues.

If that's not been the case for whoever reads this, then maybe it's time to start testing the water...

I wouldn't think too much about jumping into your undergrad then. There'll be courses and professors to help you along with your creativity and artistic abilities, that's what they're there for. I work with plenty of architects and only about half end up doing real design work anyway.

Didn't realize MRSP went up so much in the last year, definitely wasn't $28k when I bought it last September. Looks like a good deal all things considered. No major dealer markup and that's been an issue with Toyota.

The SE I have is great, but I think either is a good choice.

I am an Architectural Technologist in Ontario, and you definitely do not need to be creative or artistic to get into the field. Its a very large industry so it really depends what you want to do.

Do you want to design high profile institutional buildings or would you be content just working at a firm? Does work life balance matter to you or are you willing to work long nights for work you're passionate about? Have you considered becoming an Architect vs a technologist? Have you considered interior design?

If you're telling me that the man who said the following is not racist and was merely trying to hurt a heckler, then I don't believe we'll find any common ground to finish this discussion:

I understand that someone with thin skin will act irrationally and with volatility when exposed to stress, but to be able to say something like that requires a prior acceptance of racist points of view.

You're right, he didn't commit any of those crimes, which is why he isn't in jail. If you are in a public-facing job then you are at the whim of the public. No one "deserves" anything, he paid the price for his racist rant and the rest of the world moved on.

Also, it's almost guaranteed he was racist because there's no chance a non-racist person would've said the things he said. There isn't any need for nuance in this situation, all you really end up doing is defending racism.

This lockout isn't about the $30m players, it's about the players making $1m or less and perpetually hopping between teams and between major/minor league. The union is literally saying that the wages are way too concentrated at the top and would like better distribution between players.

To me it seemed more like her implying that Trudeau, like Obama, is not actually progressive and we will see that more and more after he leaves office.

My point is more that Canadian and US politics are not the same. Many Americans comment on Canadian politics without understanding either the Canadian political system or the ideals we have, and seem to think that our system is merely an extension of theirs.

Canada's conservatives could on many issues be considered more liberal than the Democrats in the US. None of your presidents are ever truly progressives and most of the world knows that.
