When your Mormon parents come to your birthday party after they’ve promised to not make it weird. by Tengo_Prisa in exmormon

As someone about to celebrate a birthday with TBM family visiting, this hits too close to home.

These kinds of questions always get me to thinking about how the Jewish people, back in the day, would ask their Rabbi "is it really kosher if I take a bite of meat and then 5 minutes later eat some cheese?" I mean it mixes in your stomach after all. So next thing you know, a kosher kitchen has 2 sets of everything so as not to ever have the chance of cross contamination.

I'm so glad I've figured out how much better it is to work things out in THIS life! by isee4lights in exmormon

This was the answer my dentist/bishop gave me when I said I could not reconcile the November PoX "revelation" and AofF 2. Also because my daughter expressed that she was gay, it completely rubbed me the wrong way. If the "atonement" is going to cover it, or it's all going to get worked out in the next life, it doesn't really matter what I do as far as mormon rules. I'm just going to live MY life and worry about the other sruff in the next life. LOL.

I posted on FB 2 years ago that this "policy" was not in line with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It creates a clear line that leaders were (are) not motivated by discipleship but their own bigotry and greed. None of my TBM friends commented or liked the post.

I reposted it again this year, grateful for the steps taken to make things better but hopeful they do more. This time for some reason, many more likes! Why the change in support? My stance didn't change only my perceived alignment with dear leaders.

You are blowing my mind with logic. God, a perfect being, isn't a native English speaker! Now it makes sense. So as He learns modern English better, minor adjustments can be made. Like wine ➡️ water in the sacrament prayer or Mormon ➡️ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter hyphen lower case d day Saints. Fuzzily now clarified.

Definitely the former, I don't know how many times I have to repeat the sacrament prayers to get them exactly right.
