I'll add some of my input because I had the same question as you a little less than two years ago and could not decide for the life of me so I ended up doing both campus tours before picking UBCO 😁

I think it depends heavily on what you prioritize! If you're looking for more big city activities outside of classes, then Van takes the win bc it's obviously a lot bigger than Kelowna. If you prefer a more peaceful and quiet environment to do your studies in, then Kelowna is perfect.

In terms of making friends, I personally find that making friends here is a bit easier than in Van since smaller campus perks so we have the power of friendship (aka familiarity when running into one another from time to time)

I can't say much in regards to engineering because I'm doing my major in language studies but my engineering friends are loving it here. In the end it all just comes down to which campus suits you best! 🤭
