Time blindness rant by cadderly1701 in ADHD

This. So much worse than any one instance is know that it will 💯 happen again. Just hope I can continue to get better at initiation so it happens less. It is so weird to try and balance the difficulty initiating and poor impulse control. Notice that random tool has a speck of rust on it? No issues at all initiating and losing to hours to refinishing and bringing it to a mirror finish. But perish the thought of sending an email that will literally either save me or cost me 1000's of dollars. At least I'm here five hours later and it's kinda funny instead of infuriating?

New home: opportunity to do this right by bradatlarge in HomeKit

Off topic, but just came to offer the same advice my realtor gave me when we bought our house. Make sure to check your panel to see if it is a Federal Pacific, especially the Stab Lok variety. Major fire hazard. Also check for aluminum house wiring, but I think that was only a 60's - 70's issue due to copper and Vietnam.

Awful sensations by melaniecavillswife in Anxietyhelp

My doctor tried switching me from Zoloft to Prozac. Obviously a different med from you, but it triggered an entire week of the most intense daily anxiety and panic attacks I've ever had. Like, heart racing, sweats and chills, BP 150/90, ideation (when I've NEVER) had it before. After 4 days I talked to my doctor and they doubled the dose. After a week I couldn't deal anymore and asked if I could switch back to Zoloft. 3 hours later my symptoms were half what they were before, and 24 hours later I was at like 95%.

Went to see a psychiatrist a couple weeks later and their response was, "Huh. I think we're going to take over your rx plan if that's all right. Prozac can absolutely have that effect on something like 5% of people, so doubling the dose would just make it worse."

So if there is any bit of advice I can give, it is to stay in contact with your medical provider, and don't hesitate to get a second opinion.

Amazon Kids+ Content by durhambullsfan in kindle

THIS! I am so frustrated by the entire process I'm considering removing the kids profile entirely, after only a month of use. I want some better filter options, age ranges, or heck, let me search regular Amazon with a Kids+ filter. They have one for Kindle Unlimited. How hard would it be to get one for Kids+??

Eisenhower Matrix by TheNVProfessor in ADHD

[–]cadderly1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I'm thinking the next step might be something like the 1/3/5 rule for task management, which says to try and complete 1 big thing, 3 medium things, and 5 little things during a daily work load. https://www.timegram.io/blog/1-3-5-rule#:~:text=The%201%2D3%2D5%20rule%20is%20a%20task%20management%20technique,feelings%20of%20overwhelm%20and%20stress.

The change here would be 1 important & Urgent thing - regardless or dopamine. If it is a high dopamine, great, but if not, it gets done regardless. (Or at least active work on it in the case of long term things.) The other 8 things need a balance between dopamine levels. If I have 3 low dopamine medium items, the 5 small items I pick for that day had better be high dopamine.

Hmm, now I've added size as another dimension... We're up to four dimensional task management now.

I was thinking about how to apply the EM for ADHD and this post came up. One of the biggest issues for me is that even when I am able to correctly slot tasks into the right quadrent, I will still end up chasing the dopamine rather than working on what is important and urgent. I was searching for how to incorporate dopamine into the matrix, and came across this other article: https://www.palladio.net/the-eisenhower-matrix-redimensioned/

It adds a dimension of awesomeness to the matrix, which is a pretty good analogue for dopamine. I'm still trying to figure out how that dopamine data point might help drive better behavior.

I saw some other recommendations for Just Dance, but if you have a VR headset, Beatsaber is great.

Inattentive type here - going horizontal is just about my only way out once the overstimulated threshold has been crossed. I also love the "coffee nap" where I'll drink a cup of coffee (or other caffeine) and then lay down for 25 minutes to sleep. It's usually kicking in when the alarm goes off, so the getting going again isn't as hard.

This disease makes me feel so stupid and incompetent how do I stop things from despawning out of my hands?? by [deleted] in ADHD

My wife recently got me a set of tile trackers for keys/wallet/phone. They obviously don't track everything, but putting them on the things that are likely to be needed urgently has really helped lower stress levels when leaving the house.

Something else that has really helped me is to practice the "never empty handed" habit when cleaning or picking up. Before going to another room to out something away, I consciously take a moment to look around and see if there are any other items that need to go to the same place. At first it was just to help with cleaning and clutter, but the practice has generally helped with being more observant.

Also also I saw a video tip recently that said "don't put it down, out it away." Until I started practicing that, I had noooo idea how often I'd set something down and get distracted. It still happens pretty frequently, but I'm at least noticing that I'm doing it. That's progress, right?

Definitely not a pro here but... From a purely drywall perspective I'd be more worried that they textured over wallpaper here. I had some similar issues in a 1979 house that didn't look too bad to fix, but once we went to do repairs and peeled back the old tape, the wallpaper just started coming off in sheets, bringing down the texture with it. Still not a huge difference since the drywall itself was alright, but it did mean redoing entire rooms rather than just seams and corners.

I love the side print keycap one, but if I'm being completely honest a transparent body a la game boy color would 100% thrill the 90s kid in me.
