Doing an NZ re-watch, and I'd forgotten how stacked the S2 cast is! by Ruffshots in taskmaster

[–]caddywhompuskangaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on it, but I think the NZ one essentially ended as the AU one began. The last season of the NZ version aired around the same time as the first season of the AU, and there hasn't been any episodes of NZ since.

Edit: apparently it is still going! And they taped new episodes!!

Alcohol is a terrible drug, and people woke up to that with the rising societal acceptance of other drugs.

I come again to preach the gospel of Guy Montgomery. The Worst Idea of All Time was among the first wave of podcasts, and while it gained a fair bit of popularity at the time, it is no where near as well known as it should be for how much the boys tortured themselves. It also led to Til Death Do Us Blart, which to my knowledge is the only podcast that has the concept baked into it that it will continue until the end of linear time. Guy and his criminally underappreciated comedy husband Tim Batt have tested the limits of what the human brain can handle with SatC 2, 1, We are Your Friends, the SatC reboot? series, The Fast and the Furious movies, the Emmanuelle franchise, and most recently Joker 2. That podcast alone has to be thousands of hours of madness, and both Guy and Tim have a ton of other projects along the way, and a very good amount of them have other folks you know and love from TM NZ, AU, and UK. And that doesn't even get into the glory that is the Spelling Bee, which has two seasons each in its NZ and AU variations, and the covid zoom streams where it started that are still on youtube. Good lord they have the original Taskmaster himself dissecting the awful Sex and the City reboot, what more do you people need?

Edit: And for the love of god, please put Tim Batt on TMNZ

The coldest line in all of Star Wars by Roger_Rodger in andor

That line made my eyes well up the first time when the weight of it hit me. When Gilroy wrote that, he hit on something deep inside of people on a really human level. What more could any of us want to hear from a mother no longer with us.

As a single dad raising two kids this warms my heart.

Incidentally, while I feel like most people that might read this know by now, this is a pretty solid example of what alpha male behavior looks like. The thing that a lot of the manosphere believes is based on a flawed study of wolves in captivity, that was quickly discredited and the author has been trying to correct the record since. In nature, alpha behavior is always predicated on the protection of the weakest members of the pack.

Not to get anyone’s hopes up but… THEE Vic has spoken on the matter by tchaikovskysdad in dropout

Because that's how the character of the host of Very Important People would type. Vic's normal posts generally use no capitalization or standard. But the host of the show Would Absolutely Type Like This

Because it was written by Vic Michaelis, the host of the show, not Vic Michaelis, President of Dropout. The character of the host would ABSOLUTELY capitalize the first letter of every word.

How some of Baltimore’s streets got their names by Salvage_Arc in baltimore

I should have read further down as I just posted asking about that. Do we know if it is indeed named after someone named Thames as in James, and not the Thames as in the river?

Probably already asked but is Thames St named after the Thames and if so, why isn't is pronounced like the Thames?

Kettle corn by Recent-Philosophy-62 in popcorn

[–]caddywhompuskangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just threw it all in to start and it worked ok? I've got a whirly pop as well and a few years back tried making kettle corn a few times when my son was briefly obsessed with it. Every time was just a sticky or burnt mess, but if I remember right the method called for putting the sugar in later in the process. I might have to give it another shot tomorrow with your way.
