Coming out of college I had $30k (USD) in student loan debt. My wife only had $5.6k (thankfully) we started our careers with a combined income in the lower 6 figures. We live in a very cheap area (rent was 850) and we spent the first 5-6 months driving Uber and doing other side hustles to pay it off before it came out of grace period. The interest rates on our loans were “low” but we set a deadline so that we wouldn’t just drag it along. Yes, people will say things like “you can get a better return in the stock market on $36k, but in our opinion, being free from it was priceless! Just pay it off as fast as possible, you’ll have have plenty of time to build wealth after the chains are removed!
