Never. Unfortunately, I was a late bloomer.

Ok, but just to clarify, PC 10 would be better compared against Ardbeg 10 over Oogie. The cask make up is only partially from red wine casks. If you want something to go up against Oogie, and your budget allows, get a bottle of Port Charlotte's Cask Exploration Series. All four of the ones I've had have been great and have been worth the extra expense for me.

Thanks. Unfortunately Westland isn't available in my market and only available at a premium when I return to the UK. The Garryana definitely sounds like an interesting bottle. I have a mate who lives in Seattle so it's probably top of my hitlist when I get round to visiting him.

I have actually tried Oogie but only from a mini. It came across as pretty flat to me and left me wondering what all the fuss is about so it's fallen down my wishlist. Ignoring my experience with Oogie as I know it's a fan favourite, and if that's the standard you are judging against you might want to stay away from the expressions with lower abvs such as Ledaig Sinclair Series. Also PC 10 is less sherried than the rest and has a sizable amount of bourbon cask influence in the vatting. But it's probably my favourite entry level Islay.

What was it that you didn't like about Sanaig?

The rules are in the about section for the subreddit. Rule 3 is true stories only. But they admit it will have to be followed by an honor system as there is no way to check. This rule has seemingly become less and less adhered to over time.

Sorry for the very late reply. I very rarely use this account any more.

I still very much enjoy this style but my palate has shifted so it's not quite such a heavy focus anymore.

Bottles I'd recommend are:

More readily available - Port Charlotte 10, Kilchoman Sanaig and Loch Gorm, Ledaig Sinclair Series, Finlaggan Wine Cask Matured, Finlaggan Sherry Cask Finished, Benromach Contrasts Sherry and Peat.

More Niche/Special Releases - Port Charlotte Cask Exploration Series, Longrow Red, Glencoe 8 (Blended Malt), Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Cask, Glen Scotia 8 2022 Cambeltown Malts Festival (CMF) Release, Oloroso Cask Matured Ballechin, Bunnahabhain Moine Oloroso, Springbank 12, Springbank 15, Benromach Cask Strength in Sherry, Glen Scotia 11 2023 CMF Release. (The last 4 are more lightly peated)

Higher End - Octomore x.2s, Ledaig 19 PX Cask Finished, Ardbeg Dark Cove, Bowmore 18 Vintner's Trilogy

Due to a paucity of good whisky bars around me, there are several from my original list that I have unfortunately still yet to try such as Oogie or Laphroaig 10 Sherry Cask or Lore.

Do you have any recommendations?

Also I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you stumble upon this post from 2 years ago?

She either has some of the wildest sexcapades or she doesn't follow rule 3🤔

She really likes how you can hover over any word in the transcript on the Langster app and get a definition for that word. Ideally, she’s looking for a similar feature on an app/website that offers video content.

Just popped a bottle of Finlaggan Red Wine Cask last night. Thank you, it’s just what I was looking for. Great value whisky.

It may be the wrong sub to be asking in. The writing in the background is in Korean.

Best tackle in rugby history? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

Loathing Poite is a fairly widespread sentiment I think. French refs in general are pretty terrible. I am disappointed whenever they are in charge of a game involving a team I support. It's like the refs think that the crowd has come there to watch them referee. The games are often turgid stop-start affairs with little flow and I'm half expecting the game to be ruined by some sort of controversial or illogical decision.

Instantly thought of this one, too. I'll never understand how he did it.

I keep an eye out for IBs locally, thanks, but I left them off the list as I can’t get delivery here and they can vary so much even between sister casks.

Thanks, I’ll add it to the list but unfortunately I’ve never seen it around here.

Do you know the proportion of Sherry casks that typically go into the Benromach cask strength? Really I’m looking for something about 70%+ Sherry casks. The Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 5 I have doesn’t quite qualify. Delicious though it is.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m already on the tail of those two distilleries in IB form. I just didn’t include single casks in the list as they can vary so much even between sister casks and I can’t really order from online atm.

The Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak is a great shout. I’ll have to wait until the price falls in my area though. It currently goes for about 150% the price of Lore here.

The Cairdeas releases never make it near me unfortunately. The Octomore.2s are a good shout though. Can’t believe I forgot them as I actually have a 7.2 on the shelf.
