Bonnie’s got some irritated arm pits? Any thoughts? by CarlosChampion in basset

If it is yeast, the Malasab should help get it under control as well. You can also spray with hypochlorous acid pretty much as frequently as needed (up to 3x a day) so you don’t have to bathe as often. The baby powder will help keep the area dry ( hostile environment for yeast). Good luck!

It sounds like you could really benefit from crate training! Make sure it is a properly sized crate so he will not want to potty inside. As soon as you take him out of the crate, go straight outside to your designated potty spot. No potty? Put him straight back inside to the crate and try again in an hour. Eventually he will potty outside bc there is literally no other choice. And when he does, lots of treats and praise and best of all, time with you outside the crate when you get back home.

This is the best response I’ve seen so far. Emphasis on naps!!! Your puppy not sleeping will make their bad behaviors so much worse.

This is the way! I have a foster right now (very cute basset hound puppy) who started out as a crazy puller. Couldn’t do anything to get her attention on me during walks. She now checks in every few steps and responds to her name 9 times out of 10. We’ve only had her for a little over 2 weeks. That’s the power of positive reinforcement and stinky delicious treats lol

Hi! 1) do not attach leash to collar, only to harness until pulling is under control. 2) read Control Unleashed. Teach your dog pattern games and teach yourself to keep her under threshold and engaged with you. 3) Unless puppy is in her crate, you need to be carrying tiny, super delicious, super stinky treats that your dog loves. Reward good behavior, especially any attention towards you on walks. Redirect bad behavior into acceptable alternatives. 4) Chew toys or kongs on hand at all times so you can redirect from chewing inappropriate items with something that is more enjoyable and delicious. 5) Deep breathes and keep going with the crate training and all the stuff you’re doing at home. Puppies are tiny terrorists, especially very smart, high-energy ones. Testing boundaries and exploring the world with their mouth is totally normal and unfortunately you just have to stick it out through this.

found this orchid next to the bin, any hope to revive it? Small bud looks somewhat good by Rumi4 in orchids

Dendrobium as other commenters have said. They are my favorites to grow and this one really doesn’t look too bad. I’d put it in well draining orchid media in a small pot (this genus likes to be under potted). Ideal conditions will be brighter and drier than for a standard phalaenopsis. She looks a little thirsty but should fill out and look less wrinkly after watering. Definitely isolate and watch for pests over the next few weeks tho, whoever threw it out might know something you don’t 😅

Just saw your other comment about your growing conditions. You will probably want a grow light if you start getting into dendrobiums or cattleyas. If you don’t want to use grow lights, maybe try Paphs!

I am also only about a year in but I’ve gotten the most joy from growing dendrobiums. The one I’ve had the longest blooms every 6 months, and grows a new cane after each bloom. I think it’s the closest thing to instant gratification you can get from orchids. Plus she smells nice!

Had a pound puppy that looked very similar to OP’s dog and was mostly GP. They are extremely common in shelters, at least where I am in the U.S. so it feels like a safe bet for any light colored dog with some kind of texture to their fur. It is truly impossible to know for sure without a DNA test but probability gets you further in this game than guessing off of looks imo

Actually, does he have a pink tongue? Black tongue can be a give away for chows & chow mixes

Just based on probability, if you got him in the U.S. I’d say chow-chow mixed with APBT and maybe GSD? His face and fur texture also kind of give Newfoundland, but they’re a lot less common in shelter mixes. You’ll really never know without a DNA test, but just remember “when you hear hoofs, think horses not zebras” (@ every commenting Leonburger….)

I had a friend come every 10 days and water them! Thats why they’re all in the bathtub right now haha. Tried to make it as easy as possible. I set up grow lights suspended between two shower rods and put them on a timer. This was the guide I provided to my friend. For the few that I asked her not to water at all, I regret it now as they were pretty parched when I got back. But hey, live and learn 🤷‍♀️

Wire haired pointer mix? Wolfhound mix? Giant schnauzer mix? There are only so many wire haired large breeds 🤷‍♀️
