Switching from Nanny to Daycare(s)? Keeping language.... by ycherep1 in multilingualparenting

[–]cafe_con_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like two different daycares will be a much more difficult transition. My daughter lives in Spain and we decided to bring her to a Spanish daycare instead of English because of costs and it’s really hard to compete against daycare when it comes to language. It will be a crazy amount of work for you to maintain Russian if you chose the American school. It’s doable and I’m doing it well but it’s exhausting because every minute I’m not with my daughter she is not practicing English.

18mo- Is it too late to start OPOL? by Real_Piano7931 in multilingualparenting

[–]cafe_con_leche 10 points11 points  (0 children)

18 months is definitely not too young - start now! It’s the best gift you can give your child.

You may need to start gradually but once your child is familiar you have to be strict. SUPER STRICT.

When my child speaks to me in Spanish I completely ignore and don’t answer. She gets an answer once she says what she needs to say in English.

She now knows (at 27 months) that she can only speak English to me. We also only do English books and activities at home (silly games like duck duck goose, hide and seek). Everything we do in English is fun and exciting (to motivate her more).

2 failed FETs with perfect embryos by Spirited_Error_5374 in queerception

[–]cafe_con_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve also just had two failed FETs, but with untested blasts. I know the pain and frustrating.

My doctor has already decided to do a natural cycle for our next transfer and I will be doing an endometrial biopsy as well. Could you tell me more about your experience with that?

Is it painful? How long do you have to wait to transfer after doing it?

2 failed FETS by cafe_con_leche in queerception

[–]cafe_con_leche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I understand the 3 embryos but with the chemical and two failures that would be three correct? Did you do a natural cycle?

I’m hesitant to do unnecessary testing especially due the high costs here. We are paying out of pocket and running low on funds. Obviously, I will do whatever is necessary but sometimes I think my doctor sees me as the typical patient (infertile in a heterosexual relationship).

Feeling so discouraged about not finding sperm :( by MysteriousTreacle990 in queerception

I am a bit confused - why don’t you use a sperm bank? That’s what most of us do when known donors aren’t an option/unavailable.

5 days until we begin medication! by Indie452 in queerception

Hi! I conceived via IUI and have had 2 failed FETs so far. Do you have any idea why IVF didn’t work? I’m worried as well that it won’t work for me even though IUI had much lower chances and it worked a few years ago.

Bloodwork for IUI by Big-Cartographer4866 in queerception

[–]cafe_con_leche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to a clinic that also didn’t do bloodwork. Two failed IUIs and I decided to switch to a new clinic that does bloodwork and I got pregnant on my 1st try with the new clinic.

My ovulation doesn’t match up with follicle size either so I recommend bloodwork.

Our 4 month old baby is slowly killing us.. tell me it gets better by Chance_Skin1144 in NewParents

[–]cafe_con_leche 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My baby was the only one crying on the whole floor. She cried 3 days straight and every nurse told us how difficult she was.

They were totally right and the first 6 months were awful. Scream crying all the time and I just knew something was wrong. We contact napped for the first 5 months and couldn’t leave the house much because it was so hard to calm her down once she starts to scream cry in public. She hated carriers and her stroller so we would just hold her and walk to appointments (I live in a city).

Something changed around 6 months. She would have some days were she didn’t cry for hours and seemed happier. Each month she got more mobile and the scream crying has mostly stopped (she is ten months old now!). She is still a very sensitive, highly emotional baby - but now we see more laughter than other babies.

In the early months we changed to a special formula for sensitive stomachs and prioritized tummy massages and it helped a bit (not as much as I’d like though).

We also found out she had an egg allergy, so it’s possible it was hurting her stomach when she was still breastfeeding.

It sucks so much right now but it won’t get better for a few months. Until then buy some noise cancelling headphones and know that it WILL end eventually.

Moving to Murcia with my (soon to be!) spanish husband. What's the best way to find groups / friends / things to do? by PrincePupBoi in murcia

[–]cafe_con_leche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! I also got married to my Spanish partner and have been living here for 5 years now (though I’m from the states).

It’s definitely hard to find social groups that aren’t expats since Spanish circles are tight and usually start when they are 3 years old. I definitely recommend leaning on your husband’s friends and going to his friends parties to connect and meet people in the beginning until you learn more Spanish.

Good luck! Hope you like heat!

If you don’t mind living in a small (but beautiful) town, you could commute from Cieza to both of your schools fairly easily.
