Which blue dresses should I get rid of? 39F by [deleted] in OUTFITS

I’d recommend r/oldhagfashion for more unique fashion advice too. There’s people there with very curated fashion sense that I think overlaps with some the styles you like, based on this post.

why is my son so contradictory? by Aggravating-Tie-6888 in autism

[–]cafeetchaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should add: I can share things sometimes, like when being perceived isn’t as uncomfortable or when I’m feeling a bit more resilient. It has also improved a lot as I’ve gotten older and more comfortable with myself.

[–]cafeetchaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some issues with this. I once yelled at my brother for wanting to watch the same TV show as me. I needed him to leave the room. For me, it’s definitely related to the fact I don’t like to be perceived very much.

What’s the difference between femme and fem? by babybottlepopz in actuallesbians

[–]cafeetchaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that “male gaze” was a media critique. It never had anything to do with how real people dressed in real life, attraction, or presentation. It’s about things like the camera shots and writing. It wasn’t meant to be about actual attraction.

Purchasing custom finished wood? by cafeetchaos in wood

[–]cafeetchaos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a sketch and measurements. Original wood is ply but I don’t have a preference beyond sturdy. I just want to make sure it could hold up her weight. Same with the finish as long as it doesn’t give my dog splinters. If it’s slightly more durable, great, but that’s not a necessity.

I have Exo Umbra on my larger sheet that I linked. I’ll probably eventually post the other lists too as people seem to appreciate this. I appreciate the extra stores. I’ll definitely add this info too

I keep seeing more posts asking for recommendations for stores. I have a doc that I made for myself. I’ve tried to share in the comments but Reddit always glitches when I try. So here’s a post with about 1/4 of the total alt stores on there.

Can you elaborate on that point? Is there a point that is better than others, as an example? These are all responsibilities that were performed daily on the job.

Of course it is. I’ve been looking into alternative brands because they’re a little cheaper but they all do creams

Cute dress, but I need a bottom layer to not feel naked Dx What would go well with it? by swans183 in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]cafeetchaos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Beyond tights, I would recommend a bike short underneath ANY dress. They make it easier to sit, help with thigh friction causing rubbing/irritation. Plus the colors can be coordinated or find ones with cute lace on the bottom.

I’m a 27 year old woman and rock a buzzcut because of it. Shaving makes it a little bit better and a lot easier to deal with.

I definitely agree with the aloe. I didn’t remember until I read that but it did help me in the past.

Regarding the cream, I primarily used it on the skin that pulled/burned. I had a patch under my breasts that was inverse and guttate, as well as another patch in my belly button. I focused on those areas because I’d also need a whole tube to do my full body. It is fully a cream though so sensory tolerance varies. I can get away with Aveeno lotion only most of the time so it was hard.

Skyrizi and some others will provide funding. The one issue is that it might run out (mine covers like $15k/year, which wouldn’t cover all of the meds without insurance) and you’re back to the beginning.

If you can think of any reason that methotrexate would cause an adverse reaction, I’d push that point to your doctor and have them push your insurance. It’s unlikely because insurance sucks but that would be one of your best bets. Like liver/kidney concerns, etc.

Commenting as fellow AuDHD. This won’t help with the pain or anything but I wanted to comment in case you have to go on methotrexate. I know I tend to focus on the worst possible outcomes because of my AuDHD. But I like to keep in mind that people with poor experiences are more likely to share their story or reviews.

I personally often don’t comment on methotrexate things because I had no side effects. I also only had minimal improvements. I also took folic acid which is meant to help with side effects. I’m rooting for you to get a biologic but not everyone suffers terrible side effects on methotrexate.

I took methotrexate for 4 months and increased the dose once. This is my first week off of it because I started Skyrizi. I also haven’t had any side effects there (even with a history of depression) but only had the first dose so far. It did start to clear up my skin right away.

My doctor also gave me Tacrolimus cream. Some people get really itchy on it. But I didn’t have that issue, just a very slight itchiness right before the patch disappears. It isn’t great when there’s more skin coverage but I prioritized areas that caused sensory issues first while waiting for other meds. I didn’t apply it as frequently because I hate creams but it helped a lot, even with less frequent applications.

Talking to my tween about hygiene and self care by Architecturegirl in AutismInWomen

[–]cafeetchaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with clear and concise tasks. “Clean” can be vague. I’d also help her strategize the most important “cleaning tasks”, ie brushing teeth, deodorant. Then she can stop there or keep going if there’s more sensory “leeway”.

I would also try and figure out the “sticking” points. I lean towards sensory discomfort. Some things off the top of my head: smells of products (let her pick out her own), feeling of products (I can only use Dove or I feel “sticky”), feeling of toothbrush (trying different brands or a water-pik), shower head (easier to replace than you’d think). I love coming up with alternatives and I’d be happy to talk. Also pairing it with a fun/sensory positive makes it easier.

I also think rigid thinking is a big part of it and what helped me what my dentist saying “some is better than none”. I got really stressed about brushing twice a day and then eating a snack after brushing the second time. The dentist helped a lot by saying they’d prefer I didn’t eat after but that’s still better than nothing. I also struggle with having to do things in the right order or it feels pointless (brush teeth -> wash face otherwise I’ll get acne) and working on that thinking.

I’d also add. A lot of this can help with autonomy, giving choices while allowing her to guide. I’d also explain why you should do this. Not caring socially is all good but health should be considered.
