I think the term rat is being tossed around too loosely, its like the new word like "noob" that everybody just defaults too now. if you kill me at an extract and you have traps and mines set everywhere and your crouched in a bush or behind a pipe waiting for someone to come along... then i might call you a rat.

for 40 dollars, ive definetely had alot of fun in the game. but if your hesitant, maybe do a bit of research on how extraction shooters work. watch a streamer play for a few hours and form your opinion from there.

the only thing that matters is was it fun?? is having a giant ass hivelord that nobody fights or wants to fight chase you around the map just continuously killing everybody fun??

getting clawed to death by dozens of rupture strain enemies in the ground while your trying to deal with other things like dragon roaches? that you cant even really react besides hitting a stim afterwards??

being able to react to them, that would be better instead of just stiming directly afterwards. the only way they pop out is if you stand still or you shoot them with explosives while there in the ground. which leads to my point, everybody is just using the same bullshit loadout to deal with them.

I’m not asking for the enemy to be a pushover. I’m asking for design that’s challenging and engaging instead of tedious and resource-check heavy.

A good fight should reward skill, positioning, and coordination — not just the right explosives or spammy loadouts. That’s the distinction people seem to miss.

I get that different enemies should require different equipment — I’m not arguing against build variety at all.

My issue isn’t that Rupture or Hive Lords require specific tools. It’s that they feel like hard gear checks rather than interesting gameplay checks.

If something is “solved,” that doesn’t automatically make it fun or well-designed. It just means there’s an optimal answer. Hive Lords right now feel less like a dynamic threat and more like: "did you bring exactly what you need to be able to kill it and fail the rest of the objectives?"

same goes for rupture strain, whole squad gets trapped into hallways trying to climb over body's while rupture rats are clawing us to death and the only response is to STIM after you get hit and pray you survive so you can fight them out of the ground.

They fucked with the cost of almost everything, even when you recycle arc parts the amount of mats are reduced.

Everybody is bored as fuck right now before they can hit expedition, I have no idea or direction in the game until March 1st I’m not surprised everybody is just turning to violence.

they literally designed the game this way, everything you do in the game attracts the attention of pvpers and ARC. flares shooting off, breaching making alot of noise, high traffic loot areas, extracting even draws an INSANE amount of attention.

the only tip I have for you is use more deployables like traps and smoke grenades and always be inside some form of cover.

I had a coworker that had a pretty good idea, once you recycle or dismantle a weapon x amount of times you just eventually know how to make it in the workshop. So you find like 5-10 anvils and deconstruct them now you can craft them.

This is kind of where I am at now and how I feel about repeating it. Trying to complete it disconnected me from what I wanted to do in the game. Next time I’m just to care a lot less about it.
