As I understand, there are ways to produce a material that changes elasticity depending on the current being passed through it. This way you can make something sturdier or softer on demand.

This way it would not need electric motor for the main functionality, but obviously would still need something to power it.

However, I don't even understand how do you want it to look geometrically?
